mmm you know away from the celebrity media circus on the other side of the valley, the OTHER glastonbury happened.
the one you aren't reading much about, the one they couldn't hang.
the fun, chilled out and insane one.
the one that couldn't give a flying toss who you are really. the one we went for.
the one around the stone circle, and under the flags. in the rabbit hole. in the darkest depths of shangri-la.
around the van de graff lightning generator crackling through in soaking sky,
and in a crashed aeroplane fuselage where we and our friends were.. nigel and i Djing.. until dawn
here's a selection of what we played.

Thom

First time glasto-goer. Absolutly epic.

Was walking through Shanri-La on the saturday as Coldplay were on at the Pyramid so it would be quiet and stopped for a few seconds to do some naughtys and my mate saw Thom Yorke walking through the crowd, gave him a shout and had a quick word. Could it get much better?

Then walked to the unfairground and took a few photos of the aeroplane when we overheard some of the dancers on top of it talking to their friends saying Thom Yorke is playing a secret DJ set at 1am and talked to them about it.

Had a look around went back at half 12 and chilled, at about 1.10am There he turned up with a load of groupies and i assume the rest of the band, im pretty sure it was Phil Selway but not sure on the others.

Thom came on at about 1.30am they closed the aeroplane and there was about 30-40 people in there absolutly packed and he played a fast paced reggae set for about 45 minutes, absolutly brilliant. Who i assume was Phil Selway was absolutly bouncing and kept calling me kid and drinking my vodka lemonade.

Absolute once in a lifetime experience.

Actually woke up the next day and wondered if it actually happened. Then walked outside afterwards and fatboy slim was doing a set next door!!

FORTY-FOUR

somehow incomplete.

forming again.

coming into focus.

losing it agian.

asleep in the back seat.

street lights dropping in the window.

warm midsummer's night.

tinny AM from the speakers.

out of control. too long away.

can't make it til home.

slowly rolling past a semi.

the metronome of chains hanging off.

the whirr of tires on pavement.

almost not moving. and yet.

slumber.

tomorrow I'll wake up in my bed.

carried up the stairs the night before.

in my room.

everything familiar once again.

the tethering not as needed.

the terrain less foreign.

that's the 8 year-old i will never meet myself.

i will not recall him in this moment when he is older.

in a moment of reflection.

after a success.

following a disappointment.

i won't be able to trace his life back to a moment.

no connective tissue.

no chain of memories.

in the end.

left with me.

Motionless (a Haibun)

Motionless (a Haibun)

by PrttyBrd

Heart stuck in gray dawn. Subtle remembrances, consume. Longing for more. Lingering for, "used to be".  Vulnerability in pain gambled for strength in love.  Held in place by promises.

Spoken words deny
Actions scream in love and pain
Hearts splinter and crack

Time cannot heal what was not meant to be broken. Change is slow coming.  Dreams of warmth take hold, trying to leach into reality so abruptly ripped apart.  Something once so perfect, so beautiful in its purity, in its simplicity. Forever tainted by selfless gestures turned selfish motives.

Promises broken
Dreams relive yesterday's bliss
Stopping tomorrow

What's good for one, not enough to sustain.  Love enough to last, pushed under, forgotten. Lost to fear. Submerged in darkness.  Yet, there lies the sun.  Warm and alive.  More than a seed, a field of flowers ready to bloom.  Still, flowers of love do not bloom in tears of despair.

You are the warm sun
Watered by my salty tears
Flowers turned to hay

Carta al Lector

A dios pido permiso
