Today's post from  Palestine Solidarity Campaign:

Dear Friends,

Israel is the only country in the world that systematically prosecutes childrenin military courts – between 500 and 700 each year. You can help end the widespread mistreatment of Palestinian children by signing the No Way To Treat A Child petition.

FACTSHEET: PALESTINIAN CHILDREN IN MILITARY DETENTION
Palestinian children as young as 12 are routinely: Taken from their homesat gunpoint in night-time raids; blindfolded, bound and shackled; interrogated without a lawyer or relative being present and with no audio-visual recording; put into solitary confinement; and forced to sign confessionsin a language they do not understand.

We need your support in demanding that the UK Government takes immediate action to ensure the rights of Palestinian children are upheld in accordance with international law.
ACTION: SIGN THE PETITION
Radiohead to break the BDS picket line

Today, Radiohead will be playing their gig in Tel Aviv in a stadium built on the ruins of three Palestinian villages. The symbolism is stunning. Radiohead’s carefully crafted reputation as a progressive and politically aware band lies in tatters.

collective of Palestinian activists have been trying for months to speak to Radiohead privately about their show in Israel, despite Thom Yorke’s assertions to the contrary. Ken LoachRoger Waters, and Dave Randall, friends of the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, have also been appealing their better nature. Radiohead fans across the globe have demonstrated their opposition to the gig and respectfully asked them to cancel.

Radiohead chose to lash out instead, ignoring every request to meet and lying about it. Thom Yorke chose to engage in a expletive filled tirade in Rolling Stone about how he felt patronised, and swear at fans who brought Palestinian flags to their concert. He justified the concert on Twitter without once mentioning Palestine at all. They have chosen to completely ignore the Palestinian request, cross the picket line, and normalise apartheid.

Although the concert continues, the BDS movement has been given the crucial oxygen of publicity. Coverage has appeared all over the world with Palestinian voices arguing for boycott, divestment and sanctions. The reasons given? The fifty-year-old occupation of Palestine, the inspiration drawn from South Africa’s anti-apartheid boycott movement, and Palestinian human rights – all this even in the Daily MailThis marks a turning point.

Our final word to Radiohead? Israeli embassies, diplomats and lobby groups have openly celebrated Radiohead’s decision to defy the cultural boycott of Israel. So have American conservatives including Glenn Beck and Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler.

Radiohead, you might not endorse the Israeli government, but it sure endorses you.

Here, another insider view, Hebrew University Professor Dr. Amiram Goldblum - yes, you all can still continue to disagree and conveniently insist Apartheid SA was nothing like Israel today. It was. Here's how Dr. Goldblum explains it:http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/232574And as ever, British film director Mike Leigh is - unlike others - politically consistent:https://artistsforpalestine.org.uk/2017/07/17/mike-leigh-slams-radiohead-for-ignoring-palestinians/

Just spotted this on the website of US Campaign for Palestinian rights:"Israel has further cut Gaza’s electricity supply so that now more than 2 million people there only have access to around 2-3 hours of electricity per day. This lack of electricity means health, water, and sewage treatment systems are functioning even less than their usually low levels. The UN released a report last week declaring Gaza to be effectively unlivable due to declining incomes, healthcare, education, electricity and fresh water. "https://uscpr.org/do-you-see-gaza/These blatant discriminatory and racist policies (officially illegal under the UN) were the reasons why South Africa faced boycotts. Why Radiohead thinks this doesn't apply to Israel is beyond me!

when you know you are going to die time really does slow down.

i almost died in a car crash when i was 4 or 5 and again i almost died when i was 20 years old.

the first time it was winter. i was sitting in the front seat of a very high, narrow van. dressed in my snow suit. i could hardly see out the window because there was so much snow. i still remember the sound of the windshield wipers going back and forth and that soft crunching of snow. everything is always so silent in the snow. usually peaceful too. i hardly saw the black dog that my mom swerved off the road to miss.

before the van started to roll time slowed right down. i will never forget my mom unbuckling her seat belt looking back at my brother and sister and then reaching over to put her arms around me. then the van rolled over and kept on rolling and we landed right side up. that part happened really fast. but her looking at me before that lasted forever. the doctors couldn't believe that we didn't have a scratch on us. must have been the snow suits that protected us. what they couldn't believe at all was that our mom was still alive. the drivers side was completely smashed in, and she should have been mashed potatoes. her reaching over to save me actually saved herself. if she hadn't have unbuckled and moved....she would have died.

the next car accident wouldn't happen for a while. i'm sure i must have been 20. we were driving at night. my friend and i were talking. we turned to face the curve in the bend at the same time just to realize too late that she was going way too fast, the curve was too sharp and going downhill and we were never going to make it. again, same thing, time slowed right down. she looked at me in the eyes and i swear she said sorry to me with her eyes and i heard her thoughts say 'sorry i'm going to kill us' and i said goodbye to her, we were telepathic, and our third friend was silent in the back. we were all silent, no screaming, nothing. we just accepted our fate, for a moment. the next thing i remember is that my friend driving let go of the wheel. while i was waiting for the impact of going over the edge of the barrier and down the cliff....something strange happened.

i imagined a giant ocean...a giant ocean with no shore that just went on and on and on and i imagined that at the moment of impact with that barrier, that i would merge with this giant ocean. i would splinter into a million pieces back into that. and just when i was prepared to shoot out of my body into the unknown...in my head i said "no, wait, no, not yet....i have more to do...way more to do here" and it was at that exact moment, that the back end of the car swerved to balance out the front bumper, so that instead of flipping over, we shimmied along the railing and swung out to the other side of the road.

i don't know why i feel like sharing this now... except that i was thinking about fight club recently, the movie, and those near life experiences. i really feel like we all have a personal purpose on this earth to fulfill. and i also believe that we each have appointed times to fulfill it. we may each have many different fates depending on any given choice of any given moment. but all of those fates even as various as they may be are interconnected and predestined.

my mind cannot fathom it, just as i cannot fathom the spider and her immaculate web;

i cannot touch it. i cannot dissect it. i can barely even see it except when it glitters in the sunlight. as soon as i reach to touch it...it slips through my fingers as if it never was. all i can do is stupidly analyse and wonder open mouthed at the entire amazing and spectacular process.

Re: Radiohead performance in Israel...

I have never EVER been so disappointed with Radiohead: they publicly voiced their criticism, then did NOT perform for South Africa under their racist Apartheid regime, yet they seemingly promote the racist Apartheid regime of Israel - what's going on?

Have a read, more and more newspaper ask the same question:

The whole point of a cultural boycott, is to tell a regime: 'No, we will not show approval for your undemocratic/racist policies with our performance in your country.'

This is Israel of today:

Glastonbury 2017 DVD?

Please let there be a DVD of Radiohead at Glastonbury 2017...I watched it live via BBC i player and was entranced the whole way through, like I was in another dimension, the energy was breathtaking even via the medium of TV.  The re runs on  i player  are soon to run out, then I will just be left with my memory of the occasion and as I'm fast approaching the  zone of dementia and senility it may all be lost completely one day...but if I had a DVD of Radiohead at Glastonbury 2017 I could sit in my high backed armchair senile but happy. Thank you x

Make sure you get Yorke to watch these videos by EINSTEIN, Mike Peled and Anna, wonderful Israeli Jews. Have a look what they say about the Zionist occupation of Palestine.  This is very upsetting, I can't remember the last time I've felt so much anger. I've destroyed all my Radiohead albums and will NEVER add to Yorke's 30 pieces of silver, along with his apartheid supporting mates

Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Santana, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Aerosmith, Britney Spears and Bon Jovi.     FUQ all of u.

I am disgusted by Thom Yorke and Radiohead.

I supported this band since Pablo Honey.  They were my absolute favorite band up to Amnesiac.

My point, OK Computer and Hail to the Thief were my albums that I listened to when all was going wrong.  Radiohead was the music that helped me feel that I wasn't the only one that thought the Iraq war was an extreme tragedy the level of massive human crimes.

Now I have to accept that this same group, Radiohead, does not care about the only existing apartheid state that exists in this world.  What is it, money? What is it, that you only think of human rights when it only agrees with your own motivation?

Thom Yorke, you disgust me.  The fact that you pointed out the BDS movement in the crowd, said "Some Fucken People" and gave them the finger: this makes you NO better than Donald Trump and what he does at his rallies.

You're a piece of shit.

Bye.

I'm really close to my folks and it's really cool that we're all music lovers. The one band that we all have in common, that we're all obsessed with is Radiohead.

Thom, Ed, Colin, Phil and Jonny have created timeless music which has been the soundtrack to our lives.

My Dad first got into Radiohead when he heard 'Creep' on a compilation album he bought in 1995; he would play this song on repeat. My Dad met my Mum on a blind date around the same year and they really hit it off. Discovering they had a similar music taste, my Dad introduced my Mum to the legendary tune which she also became obsessed with. Because they were so engrossed with this 90's alt-rock classic, they went out and bought 'The Bends' which was released that very year. They got that absorbed in the world of Radiohead they went on a shopping spree to create a CD collection every fan would dream of and which we still have to this day.

Fast forward to 1997, my Mum and Dad are happily married with a daughter (yep, that's me!). Radiohead released their third studio album 'Ok Computer' which would change music forever. My Mum and Dad would attend their first Radiohead concert the same year at Doncaster Dome when I was just 6 months old. The second time they saw them was in 2000 at London's Victoria park.

My Mum and Dad introduced me to Radiohead from a very young age; the car was a place where we would play their songs back to back and I fondly remember listening to 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac'. Me, my Mum and Dad have been following their music ever since.

On the 04 July 2017, this band played Manchester's Old Trafford Cricket Ground. This was the first concert all three of us was able to share the experience of our favourite band playing our 'soundtrack'. Every song on the set list was sentimental to us as it highlighted memories of our time together; for Mum and Dad as a couple and as a family for us all.

It was an emotional concert for us and I hope to experience it all again at another Radiohead concert with new music which will be the soundtrack to our future.
