A weekful of lovely posts and replies from Ed

There's nothing more comforting that having Ed replying to my comments to say how much he agrees with me. Not just an ego thing, but in times when expressing an opinion is considered like a criminal offence by more and more people, I find it refreshing to find not everyone thinks unlike me. And when it's someone like Ed it's even better.

So this week, Ed has been totally in sync with me with his various posts. Either because I'd seen the same theme popping up a minute before or was thinking of it. Or like yesterday, when I saw a van blocking the front door and on it was written "Entreprise EOB".

And Instagram is a very shitty social media. You can only use it on a phone, but my phone is neither Android nor IOS, it's a Blackberry. Plus I have a cheap mobile subscription that only allows me to use 100 mo per month, 2h calls and unlimited texting. But to say that there is a way to use it on a computer with a browser (and using an computer browser app when I want to post pictures though I lack most features). Well, anyway it's shitty because you don't always get notified of replies and likes and you need to scroll back and forth for ages to find a reply to your comments if you want to reply or just see what the person is referring to. So I found out Ed liked me and I didn't even know it! Worse, after I made a capture of my notifications, they disappeared as if I had dreamed them. Of course, the replies are still there but imagine you don't check your account very often you miss out on stuff. So people might think you're ignoring them while you don't even know they asked you something. Sucks.

Well, enough ranting, here's my week full of Ed interactions (well two days remaining, stay tuned for maybe more... ;))

Waste really is not encouraging people to share anything. Spent an awful long time trying to upload a video capture from my computer, tried different combinations respecting size and format limitation, nothing does. It uploads and after validation, you can't play the video because it says MIME type not found. Anybody has the same problem?

Wanted to embed the original video from which my clip is extracted from but somehow it plays something else. This is so f*** annoying and I apologize Ed, I shall never make fun of you anymore (even gently) about your social media skills. It definitely s***!!!

Well, so the band I wanted to introduce you to for this quarantine live show program on FB called Abducted by the 80's is the Escape Club and starts right at the beginning of the video introduced by the drummer of Flock Of Seagulls. Trevor and Johnny play two songs in the garden. You may remember "Wild Wild West" that got number one in the States (not in Europe).  Trev (singer) is an old mate. Doesn't seem to have changed a bit as a person. Fortunately I have and if he's stuck in the past, I don't care. I love the music and the wild wild beat.

Ed replies to my questions

Wanted to share this video directly on WASTE but this site is a nightmare when you try to upload anything, it works once in a while. Reduced size and made may video MP4 like most stuff you find on the web and here and it says it doesn't recognize the MIME. I'm fed up with trying to reencode it with various software so hope you can see the embed version on IGTV if you fancy viewing it.

Sad to hear of the death of Pau Dones

Yesterday the news arrived that Pau Dones, the leader of the Spanish group Jarabe de Palo, had died. He was diagnosed with intestinal cancer 5 years ago and seemed to have overcome the illness after surgery. However, it came back and he lived his remaining time as positively and creatively as, possible. The group enjoyed success in Italy in the 90's in particular with the single, "Depende" . https://youtu.be/RwUO34DEz0w

Well, don't get over the moon, it's a fake account! Didn't see the _ in the name but when I went to check his account because I couldn't believe my eyes that Ed would follow my rantings on IG, well I saw immediately that this was a guy trying to lure naive women probably by sending them DM. Had that once with a fake Roger Waters on Twitter who sent me a DM to ask how I was doing and what was my favourite song of his. I would never imagine the real Roger do that! Maybe if I'd been 15 years old. (At that age, I would write to Pete Townshend by traditional post and get a reply and from the real one). Well I thought I'd post that here so that you keep an eye on impersonators. I've reported this account to Instagram so it should not stay on very long. It's a fairly recent one. He only has 3 followers and 0 publications and follows almost same accounts as Ed minus his children and plus all the women he's spotted who like Ed.

Today, BBC 6 Music's Shaun Keaveny dedicated a programme to the album "What's Going On"....with recording of Marvin Gaye talking about it. A classic album in so many way, and  sadly, it resonates as much today in our current world events as it did fifty years ago. We seem to have evolved so little in important issues such as racial equality. Listen, enjoy and pass it around.
