Sam Beam is a pretty soft-spoken guy. Which one might say makes him perfect for radio. Well, that's exactly what just happened. Iron & Wine--as he is better known--just released a vinyl-only record [for Record Store Day] of a set on Santa Monica's famous KCRW station.
If you are at all a fan of his music, you are very much aware of the potent imagery and magical use of metaphors that comprise his poetry. A stellar story-teller, Sam checked into KCRW and recorded an entire album worth of material spanning across nearly all his own studio releases. All done with 10-piece band.
Mixed in with the music are a few very insightful conversations with radio host Jason Bentley, who is also host of Morning Becomes Eclectic; a very impressive radio show featuring music and interviews from the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, David Lynch, Feist, Cut Copy, St. Vincent and many, many more..emphasis on many.

Compilations of these MBE Sessions [which feature The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Radiohead & Franz Ferdinand] can be hard to come by, but some are up for grabs on Amazon.
