TESOL Programs

English as a Second Language or ESL as it is commonly known is the name given to the educational programs that are designed to help non-English speaking students understand how to read, write, and speak English. There are additional names given to similar programs such as EFL, (English as a Foreign Language), EIL, (English as an International Language), EAL, (English as an Additional Language). The term ELL, (English Language Learners), is typically used to mean students involved in these programs, though some advocates prefer the term “Emergent Bilingual” to refer to each student studying any second language, including English.

ESL programs benefit students in several ways. Students studying mathematics and science in primarily English speaking countries is likely to be helped by tesol certification schools, since having instructions given in English in math and science classes tends to make the program more difficult for individuals that do not know English as his or her first language. Furthermore, living in a country where they do not speak the main language can frequently make students feel out of place and in over their head, so ESL programs give them a welcome opportunity to get their bearings and adjust to living in a strange culture.

Business relations involving international good reasons one evident example of the several good reasons one would want to study to English language. Often, firms that operate internationally have minimum requirements for knowledge of the English language. Immigrating to a new country where English is the primary language is another. English is the language principally used by teachers in many schools and universities.. English is commonly found in art and entertainment, so learning it means new books, songs, films, and television shows open for enjoyment. Finally, a large number of papers published in scientific journals are written in English, so understanding the language is essential for researchers and science fans alike.

ESL training are, obviously, an important resource and opportunity for many students internationally. They help students of the English language in a plethora of ways, not just because of the benefits of understanding the English language in the first place, but because ESL classes give students an excellent environment in which to study, and help cultivate academic success for participants in the process. Many say the use of English may diminish due to expanding markets in places like India and China, but even so, understanding English is likely to remain a very important capability for quite a while into the future.
