Second (now third) listen in so far (this will be on repeat for a while) and I know that I love this album.
Starting with 'Bloom' it is as if Radiohead have grabbed some of their back catalogue by the scruff of the neck and smartened it up to produce an album that is current and at the same time true to themselves.
Such sweet vocals from Thom. 'Codex' and especially 'Give up the Ghost' make me melt; let me just take a moment to keep listening as it is playing in the background as I write this...
... and I'm back in the room! Lotus Flower with the newly released video (Thom's 'classic' dancing must not be missed) is like a nod to Eraser crossed with In rainbows.
Many have heard some of the material on this album in some form already as played live, but now polished and presentable, as in 'Morning Mr. Magpie,' it is a perfect fit here.
I love the scrappy beats of 'Feral' - another nod to 'Eraser's' ' The Clock'
' Separator' as a last track leaves me feeling mellow and needing to be nudged awake.. "Wake me up" sings Thom.
No! Leave me be to keep listening and dreaming...
