Here’s the first piece of work I made with Emanuel Mendez (PielReloj), it’s a cover of one of our favorite Radiohead’s songs, There There. It has become the bridge between my city and Manu’s city. We’ve been working from our houses without meeting each other, even once, since February.
Piel Reloj is a musician and a sound engineer. He’s a perfectionist and a meticulous great artist. We “met” via blogspot last year when Radiohead shot us with their new album The King of Limb. We started recording the basic guitar and the monotron, then the voices, percussion, the guitar solo and the bass. We wanted to reconstruct the percussion set with atypical “instruments”, and I can assure you that there’s no pan in this house that haven’t been hit. Finally, we decided to use bongo, eggs, tambourine, a microphone briefcase, sticks and a Telecaster.
The sound edition was in charge of Manu, and the video was in my hands. It took a lot of time, about three months; the downloadings of the video files seemed to be eternal. We were really anxious, but all he adrenaline and the excitement have made our working time an amazing experience.
