News from Philip

Hello,

I’m just about to head down under to start the final leg of this year’s touring with Radiohead. Its been a very eventful time and although far from plain sailing at points, there have been many memorable and amazing shows for us. It has all ultimately been extremely rewarding, both musically and visually. I’ve particuarly enjoyed sharing the stage with Clive Deamer, who remains more than ever, one of my favourite drummers. We look forward to playing in Auckland in New Zealand and Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia in a few days’ time.

When we finish the tour, we’ll all take some time to work on our own projects. I’m itching to get back in the studio next year to work on my own new material.

Also, I recently contributed to the wonderful Kate Rusby’s record, just released last week. As the title suggests, Kate is celebrating her 20 year musical career, joined by some friends along the way. I was fortunate enough to play alongside Richard Thompson on ‘Who Will Sing Me Lullabies’. Details of how to get the album are here

Thanks

僕は幸運にも‘Who Will Sing Me Lullabies’でRichard Thompsonと一緒に演奏する機会に恵まれたんだ。アルバムの入手方法はここだよ。

ありがとう。

My Interests

My Interests

I am a fifty-eight year old lady. I am a mother of five and I have eight grandchildren. Through my lifetime I have tried my hand at book publishing and screenplay writing, but I find myself enjoying my new hobby now that the kids are grown of making videos to show work that I have done and extend my obsession with photography in video form.
I first started with a youtube channel under Dorisanne13. On top of doing short commercial videos about my screenplays I have now proceeded to expand out into cooking videos. So if you are interested in books or screenplays check those videos out and if you are into cooking I some up with many more videos to come.
I have started a second channel on youtube titled viewwithme showing many of the places I am viewing myself for the first time. My intent is to bring businesses to Maine by showing what Maine has to offer. Wanting the film industry to also join I have created over two-thousand videos of antiques involving anything from farm equipment to Model A Vehicles. The site also serves for a good purpose. For seniors that are home-bound or just don’t get out much in the winter, it is helpful with reminiscing their past and hopefully sharing their personal experiences with family and friends. I am starting to add videos of big rigs and snowmobiles to address the young and active at heart.
So if any of this interest you, be sure to check my channels out. Also if you have a Twitter account, please add me, I am under Dorisanne. That way you can stay caught up on all the videos on both my channels and be sure to share a smile today.

Cheers!

Dead dreams? Not even close!

Some people, when they run away from home, have a very good reason do so. They might have been abused, ignored, spoiled, etc. But most of them probably consider some hypothetical consequences before departing, so that the new life from under the bridge or the neighbour's shed would look better than the abandoned random tribe Fate has been so innovative and kind to chose for them. I couldn't know about all of those things. I had a different reason to leave the alien family I cohabited for quite a while. Some might find it unsuitable for a good argument to leave, but that has nothing to do with what I think.

Anyway, I left because of the annoying nag. Yes, I know that the main meaning of one's family is to nag and mess up plans, but I am a type of humanoid that enjoys the lack of all that.

But the particular nag that I am trying to avoid - which is more than impossible, because of modern invention called telephone - is the one about my future (everyone can tell, I'm certain, what that normally sounds like)

I must admit that recently I became quite paranoid, thinking that items from my family might be slightly right, that all those flowery dreams I have are part of an intangible Universe where leprechauns ride pink unicorns. And that only because I seized to speak much about them in front of my social human friends and I , as well, seized to think much about them (the dreams/ wishes/ plans for future).

But quickly I recover, after relaxing my brains I keep in the cupboard. I slowly and somehow painfully conclude that I am the only person in this world full of suckiness that really knows me and the only one who can hear my thoughts, so I decide to keep my original positive attitude I own and give less shit about other's dark words of false superior wisdom. I know what I want with my bitter life; making a list so I can resume the wish I have, I can realise that is not something exaggerate or impossible, that, even though it doesn't sound too good for the genetic roots I left behind, it would make me super-happy. I mean not cry-me-a-river-orgasm-oh-my-god-I-can-die-now-happy. Happy enough to keep my blood pressure normal and heart intact and content with my achievements.

Because this is why I ran: so I wouldn't be needing to ignore all the advise (which is something I'm not really good at) or to do what I'm asked so the nagging would stop. I think this is the best decision.

I hope others don't need to isolate themselves in order to do the best thing with themselves and their lives. But I don't consider this extreme, to be honest. Family has a relapsing asset, like dandruff after using the wrong shampoo, it will always hunt you down and make you one of them once more. No-one is really able to stay away, so why should it be a malicious thing to take a break so you can accomplish something for yourself?

I think that I could have said it in a shorter way, but the idea is to follow your dreams and wishes, regardless. Of course, the plausible ones.

PS: Indeed, it has been a while. <3 b

A charm snake who bewitches all of us

I was in Bologna and Bercy#2. The shows were incredible. Really terrific. I saw them for my first time in Bologna: all was strange and unexpected and also enchanted, under the moon and the perfect wind of september night. I came home and I wanted so badly another minute, hour, month of their music. I wanted Radiohead again and again and again. So, Bercy. This time I knew what I wanted. I waited for one song or another, I knew how Thom moves in Lotus flower, how he swings and becomes a charm snake who bewithces all of us. I knew how he leans down on the piano and under his eyes on the screens when he sings You and whose army? I wanted something and he gave me that. The short circuit of my wish fulfilment was complete. More than complete. Because after the show I saw Thom at Social club. He began with my beloved Duke Ellington: so he killed me. He killed me gently and delightfully. But, after all, I'm so glad to be dead while Thom put some jazz for me.

Thank you guys, thank you Thom.

Much love.

and I saw the light

first at all sorry for my english, is very bad...

I knew Radiohaed just for some hit downloaded several years ago (I recorded a compilation called "soft rock"). Last september my friend Andrea invited me in Florence to see the concert at Parco delle Cascine; at the beginning I refused but then i said: "damn, it's a century I don't see a live show!" so, I called him, bought air tickets and flied to Florence for a week end (under permission of my wife and my sons, of course!).

On sunday we went to Cascine by bike (I have never seen so many bikes on line); the ambiance was very cool: thousand of people sitting on the meadow.

When the "fab five" started to play I was... surpised! I didn't imagine that these guys could play a music so powerful and deep and tragic and exciting and melodic... it was a long long time that music didn't feel me so good.

Starting from Sep. 24th I beacame, for first time in 47 years, A FAN!

Now, I listen Radiohead at work, I play their songs with my guitar and I partecipate to this blog...

Do you think I need psychological care?

The Echo Presents:

Ultraísta

Matthewdavid

Fri, October 19, 2012

8:30 pm

The Echoplex

Los Angeles, CA

$14.00 - $16.00

This event is 18 and over

Ultraísta: Afrobeat electronica finely “inspired by tequila”

His production in the late 90s with Radiohead swelled some golden waves of sound,
which led him to work with famed musicians Paul McCartney, Travis, Beck and
many more. Heralded as a super-producer, Nigel Godrich is comin’ in hot with his
new three-piece ensemble called Ultraísta.

Spawned from a love of afrobeat, electronica and art, Godrich started the band
with drummer Joey Waronker (The Smashing Pumpkins, Elliott Smith, Beck,
R.E.M.). When it came to the vocals, instead of recruiting a well-known and already
established vocalist, Godrich and Waronker took a different route by joining forces
with Laura Bettinson — a London-based solo artist who until now, not many people
across the pond knew didly about. The end result was the riveting creative effort,
Ultraísta.

Their sound is sexy, full of life and clings to a sense of delicacy with the charming
vocals of Bettinson. Her voice is enchanting as it is mysterious and rides along
smoothly with the electronic production and percussion of Godrich and Waronker.
Not one overpowers the other; instead they resonate with an alluring sound that
you can move-and-groove to, or just chill.

Get ready to dance to their bouncy track “Bad Insect.” With afrobeat rhythms and
tribal-esque percussion, you might want to create a barefoot raindance to this jam.
Alternately, Godrich gives way to let your musical soul float into a dreamy-beat-
filled world with “Wash It Over,” where Bettinson’s vocals give off a hypnotic tone
especially with her repetitive chorus. Whether downtempo or robust with complex
beats, Ultraísta is a hot listen and something to look forward to live.

Ultraísta make their Los Angeles debut at the Echoplex on Friday, Oct. 19 th! Tickets
are priced at $14 - $16 and you can get them here!

Bio:

Laura Bettinson, Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker

Debut Album Out October 2 On Temporary Residence Limited

Ultraísta–the multimedia trio comprised of vocalist/artist Laura Bettinson and multi-instrumentalist/producers Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker–will see the U.S. release of its self-titled debut album October 2 on Temporary Residence Limited.

Founded in London in 2011 on a mutual love of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music, visual art, and tequila, Ultraísta has created 10 tracks of exquisitely crafted electronic kraut-pop for this phenomenal first outing.

Favoring mantras over traditional choruses and distilling their compositions to the barest essentials, the band possesses the kind of masterful control over the pure anatomy of a pop song that only comes from having played a significant role in redefining the form in the 21st century.

"I seen you in the club in a tight dress / But I picture you in church with a white dress (...) She like pina coladas getting caught in the rain/or rocking flannels all summer like Kurt Cobain. Or that dolce gabbana with a few gold chains/and you the type of girl that probably deserve a new last name".
