Scorchio!

I don't know what I expected from a visit to Sweden, but it was stunning. When my partner was going on a work related jaunt to Stockholm I was happy to keep him company. I'm so glad I did. The weather was hot and sunny and there was plenty to see while he was busy. There's a few photos in an album for those interested. The capital city ,which covers 14 islands, really is a store of treats and has waterways that Venice would be proud of. Plenty of shops - modern, traditional, local craft, tourist - something for everyone. Plenty of historic buildings, museums, parks and we found plenty of bars serving real ale and good food. The local tax of 25% bumped up the prices somewhat, but we tried not to think about that side of it too much.Highlights for me were the palaces, the Vasa museum where a ship that sank on her maiden voyage 300 years ago has been brought to the surface and restored, and the bars which served very good real ale and food.(Hubby had done his research so finding them wasn't such a chore) The bar staff really knew there stuff.Thank you to all the locals who made our visit so pleasurable and especially Kristian who was happy to advise on which brews to try and pointed us in the direction of some great food.Off the the coast is the archipelago which is made up of hundreds of islands! Didn't have time to see them so we'll just have to go back!
