One thing that's always been bugging me is how terrible people in my country (Sweden) are at speaking English. I mean, it's our second language and has been for quite some time now, shouldn't people have sharpened their English by then? I see politicians, even the Prime Minister, speaking awful English on TV. I see other famous people; actors, singers and so on, and they are... wow, I don't even know what to say.

Even though we're being taught English in school since 2nd grade, it's not the best English. Still after nine years I wouldn't say I'm anywhere near being flutent in this language. I guess I'll have to blame my teachers for being too lazy to teach us proper English. Mostly I try to teach myself with books and watching TV programmes. No wonder people are bad at it, they don't get taught properly.

It's like being taught to fish without a fishing rod. People are being taught English, but not good enough to last one day in... let's say London. It's sad, really.
