Why you pinch

Hello friends, Ye may not know much of leprechaun ways so I will tell you of one . Perhaps you did notice on Human leprechaun day or what you did call st patricks that ye wear green to not be pinched. You do these things and yet not know why! I shall tell you.

In the spring days it is wise to wear green vests and coats and hats to better blend in with the surrounding forests. It is easier not to be spotted if one blends in and can easily hide if somehow spotted. In other months other colors can be warn freely but ones closer to nature are preferred. When leprechauns are young they are full of mischief and often are not as sneaky so for them to wear green is a must. It is taught but if they do forget the lesson it is customary to pinch a young leprechaun not wearing green on spring days.It only takes once or twice for them to remember to wear green as leprechauns do enjoy pinching the young unruly ones if they forget the way of our kind.

Somehow this custom was adopted by humans on human leprechaun day.It is thought it could be that ones of our kind saw humans not wearing green while walking free among you on human leprechaun day (as many think we be wee ones in costumes) and did pinch them and it caught on as a tradition. They may of heard the reason behind it but like many traditions of humans it has been forgotten. It may be similar to why you knock on wooden things. It was done to scare away evil sprites that may mess up your plans if they be of the mischief and they did hide in wood so people did knock to scare them away when they did say things that involved plans or health or lucky behaviour as sprites did hate how  humans did say how lucky and healthy they were as many of the sprite kind were prone to sickness and be jealous and would mess up the plans and health of those who spoke boastfully.
