Black Sabbath Is Back! [NEWS]

11010904896?profile=original

Its been a long time...decades in fact, but Black Sabbath is back! With all four [original] members now onboard, they have just announced a full new studio album and world tour to follow. The band’s original lineup, consisting of guitarist Tommy Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, bass player Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward first got together in 1969. After a revolving line-up for a number of years off, they got back together for the 1998 album "Reunion." However, studio sessions with producer Rick Rubin were halted in favor of Osbourne’s solo album, and the band ultimately went on hiatus...

But dry your eyes, for the Crazy Train is about to pull into the station once more.

In addition to an album and tour of their own, the band will headline the 2012 installment of the UK-based Download Music Festival on June 10th. Mark your calendars if you plan on being in foggy London town.

Check out the reunion promo video HERE.

The Horrors Remix Lady Gaga [MUSIC]

11010907852?profile=original

The Horrors third album Skying, released earlier this past summer, evokes a very interesting side of the 1980s:  big hair, synth-pop and leg warmers. Their first single off the LP, 'Still Life' could’ve easily been the anthem of one of those 1980s teen cult classics and would have seamlessly sat right next to Talking Heads, or Tears for Fears.  But the Brits’ take on 1980s new wave marks a sea change from their first two records that flirted with punk, goth and metal.

..Let's fast-forward to today. The lanky kids from across the pond are taking a crack at Lady Gaga with a remix of 'Bloody Mary,' for her new mix album, Born This Way: The Remix drops 11/21 via Interscope. A couple weeks back, we heard The Weeknd’s [not to be confused with Vampire Weekend] take on 'Marry The Night' and before that, we heard Wild Beasts’ remix of 'Yoü And I.'

Here’s the tracklist:

01 “Born This Way (Zedd Remix)”
02 “Judas (Goldfrapp Remix)”
03 “The Edge of Glory (Foster The People Remix)”
04 “Yoü & I (Wild Beasts Remix)”
05 “Marry The Night (The Weeknd & Ilangelo Remix)”
06 “Black Jesus † Amen Fashion (Michael Woods Remix)”
07 “Bloody Mary (The Horrors Remix)”
08 “Scheiße (Guena LG Remix)”
09 “Americano (Gregori Klosman Remix)”
10 “Electric Chapel (Two Door Cinema Club Remix)”
11 “Yoü & I (Metronomy Remix)”
12 “Judas (Hurts Remix)”
13 “Born This Way (Twin Shadow Remix)”
14 “The Edge of Glory (Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix)”

...And a download of The Horror's mix:

My Morning Jacket [who I love] just cameo'd up on an episode of The Vampire Diaries recently. In the episode, they played three songs from their latest album, Circuital; playing 'Holdin’ On To Black Metal,'  'First Light,' & 'You Wanna Freak Out.'

My goodness, three songs? Seriously guys? Isn't the world sick of Vampires already? I thought it was all about Zombies these days..Oh well.

Justly titled 'Homecoming' is why I assume a band was playing at all, let alone MMJ.. Check out the preview HERE or head over to COS for a clip of Jim Jones belting out 'First Light' and check your TIVO for re-airing times. Be sure to fast-forward through all the overly-dramatic, depressing Vamp-speak to get to the good stuff.

At least Vampires have decent taste in music....

Coldplay's new album 'Mylo Xyloto' [God, they love vowels dont they??] has gotten some perhaps necessary help from turn-tabling spinner Tiesto for a remix of 'Paradise'.  Tiesto takes the first single off the album to a the Dancehall level with heavy, yet ethereal beats, and accelerating breaks that crescendo [as you swing about your glowsticks].

The song is certainly faster now and is much less Coldplay-sounding. I can dig it.

Download the track below to help dance your way into the weekend:

What do you get when you take Trent Reznor, an Oscar-winning composer [yep, that's right]  and industrial metal-head, and throw in some grunge vocals courtest of Karen O [of Yeah Yeah Yeahs]? You get one of the most badass covers of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' for the upcoming reboot of 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'..and if this song is any indication, the rest of the soundtrack should be just as ass-baddening.

Download the track below and check out Karen's vocals on her new work with producer David Lynch for his new [first] album, 'Crazy Clown Time' which is out now.

Led Zeppelin's 'IV' Turns 40.

11010905285?profile=original

It's not every day you get to write about such a legendary band such as Led Zeppelin. Mostly because they no longer exist--but mostly because all the things that should be said about Robert Plant, Jon Bonham, Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones have already been said. And unless you've been hibernating in a mountain cave for fear of being drafted to Vietnam, then you already know where they stand in rock history.

Consider, if you can bring yourself to do it, this endless deleted scene from Almost Famous, a scene that reportedly only got clipped because Cameron Crowe couldn’t get the rights to the song but which would’ve ground the movie to a halt if it’d made it in. In this scene, scene, Patrick attempts to convince Frances MacDormand and a roomful of grown-ups that Zep's song is the deepest and most inspring ballad of all time. But his efforts and the reactions of the disinterested are quite awkard. And although they reach a sort of consensus that song may indeed be remarkable [as many probably believe it to be in today's music world] the scene is still pretty funny to watch...

But do yourself a favor, and take the next 10 minutes to recapture Led Zeppelin in all their glory with one the top live renditions of their infamous song 'Stairway to Heaven' which is arguably the greatest song ever crafted..yes, crafted. 'Freebird' is so very overrated...

Separate entrance for W.A.S.T.E. ticketholders?

So I've heard that there is a separate entrance for W.A.S.T.E. ticketholders (most recently in NYC at the Roseland shows) and that these ticketholders get to go in before the persons with tickets from Ticketmaster. Does anyone know anything about this? How does it work?

The Antlers - VCR (The XX Cover) [MUSIC]

11010909291?profile=original

A while back indie-rock outfit The Antlers gave us a taste of what fellow bands they enjoy enough to pay tribute to. One of those bands happened to be [fairly new], The XX.

Having covered them live, it was only right that they followed up with a more audible studio version.

The XX have been covered by the likes of Matthew Dear, Gorillaz, even Shakira and [sadly] Taylor Momsen. While some are decent, The Antlers' take on the song "VCR" was one worth posting.

The cover, along with a plethora of remixes and collabos on their next EP titled, (Together),will be available in the very near future [11/22].

I got 4 presale tickets for the KC show at Sprint center.  The order verification didn't have seating assignments noted but when I emailed back, they responded and said my seats were in section 230- which is the upper level at the Sprint Center.  I'm glad I have tickets, but I'm disappointed with the seat assignments, especially since I bought them during the presale.

They were the $49 as opposed to $59, but I still expected a bit better.

I emailed w.a.s.t.e. to see if my seats could be changed, but I'm sure this is doubtful.

Anyone else experience this?

Kaki King Takes On The World.

11010908089?profile=original

Hailed as the only female guitar god by Rolling Stones magazine, Kaki King is once again taking the world by storm with her dazzling dexterity and insane Amadeus guitars.

Having just finished a four-night stint up in  Tokyo's legendary Cotton Club, she plans to expand her self across not one, but two oceans--hitting up the US and Europe for her Fall 2011 Tour. Making stops all over the south lands of the US, then jumping across the pond to Italy, France and Switzerland, you'll be remiss if you don't check her out if you're lucky enough to be in one of her destinations of choice.

      11010908694?profile=original
Kaki King is not just known for her blazing fast finger work on a 5-string, but also her melodic, lyrical stylings.

While she continues to evolve her sound from her previous recordings which showcase her as a monstly solo artist, her latest album, Junior, (out on Rounder Records) is a more edgy and powerful reminder that she is a rock force to not be taken lightly...

If you're feeling left out, dont fret [we'll let her work that], King will be making a special appearence @ NY's 2012 Guitar Festival on Thursday, January 12. She will be performing along with Lee Ronaldo...So don't say you weren't told!

..it's good to be King.

The Kills: Celebrate 10 Years.

11010905879?profile=original

With the success of their most recent 2011 audio endeavor, 'Blood Pressures,' and a most impressive 10 year resume to back them up, Alison Mosshart [aka 'VV'] and Jamie Hince [aka 'Hotel'] have decided the proper way to celebrate a decade of garage-punk, lo-fi brilliance is with an aniniversary show starring themselves at their favorite NY venue, Terminal 5.

The Kills [as they're known] are a pair of humble yet powerful rockers who have created loud, hard hitting anthems such as 'Fuck The People' [Keep On Your Mean Side] and 'Cheep And Cheerful' [Midnight Boom].  The two formed The Kills back in 2000 when British native Jamie met Floridian Alison in a South London hotel. Both of them were so quickly struck by how similar and parellel their lives had been and where they wanted to go that soon after meeting, Alison dispatched herself from the Sunshine State, hopped across the pond and over to Jamie's South London flat to start making the music they always hoped to create.

The rest my friends, is history...

Jamie [who is married to model Kate Moss...seriously], and Alison [who also sings for The Dead Weather with Jack White...seriously] have taken the past few years to reenergize and come back only to blast your earballs once again with their furious, untameable power.

11010906464?profile=original

So join The Kills on February 11, 2012 with special guests JEFF The Brotherhood and Hunters as they celebrate 10 years of 'blowing what's left of your right mind....'

Collaborations are the new black. It’s a fact. So when you get mega-talented, multi-artist collaborator MF Doom, Thom Yorke & Johnny Greenwood in the same room, you know things are going to get retarded.

Literally it seems..

'Retarded Fren'  is the newest in a long line of cross-genre mash-ups featuring Doom--who's worked with artists such as Danger Mouse to create the infinitely awesome brainchild: DangerDoom; and Thom & Johnny of Radiohead who have worked with probably everyone at this point, including PJ Harvey, Bjork and Flea.

When asked about working with Thom, Doom simply replied:

"We're working on some duet songs and shit. Just like preliminary shit but we'll probably end up doing a whole record together. He's cool, he got a lot of ill ass ideas and shit, you know..."

Sounds good to me.

To snag your own copy of the Lex Records 10th Anniversary Compilation titled 'Complex' [which we have a feeling it will be] hit up their site. The album drops in January on vinyl.  You can also check out more tracks which will drop every week or so.

If you've had your ear to the ground, then you already know the highly acclaimed rock duo The Black Keys are at it again--with a new album El Camino, which drops Dec. 6th. And if you're like me, then you're equally as excited that the first track 'Lonely Boy' is already up for grabs as is their retro-looking video for it featuring a random lonely man dancing his awkward ass off.

Not much can be said about this one yet, except there is an expectation that the bluesy rockers are going to take a stab at the 70's lo-fi culture. Especially considering this promo video for the Keys feat. funny-man Bob Odenkirk [Mr. Show] selling us old whips with a killer comb-over:
