Brand new quick-witted, quick-paced melodic rapper from D.C. native Oddisee has injected his EP with some the best and also unusual influences: Bon Iver, Marvin Gaye & Metronomy. His album, 'Odd Renditions' is just that. Odd, but also highly addictive. The first track 'Paralyzed,' features Bon Iver's 'RE: Stacks' chorus as his own, jacking it up with digital beats and few other bells & whistles.

Best thing about it? Its totally FREE. Grab the EP out now, from Bandcamp HERE.

01 Paralyzed - Bon Iver 're: Stacks'
02 The Gold Is Mine - Metronomy 'We Broke Free'
03 Ain't That Peculiar - Marvin Gaye 'Ain't That Peculiar'
04 Man I Use To Be - K-Os 'Man I Use To Be'

Radiohead canvas gallery wraps

I took advantage of my Radiohead photo shoot from the Kansas City show in March 2012 and had 2 canvas gallery wraps made.  The one shown below of Thom is 16x20 and stretched on 1.5" thick bars.  The Jonny pic is 24x30 and stretched on .75" thick wooden bars.    Can't wait to hang!

Goodbye, WFNX

So the station that got me into Radiohead all those months ago is now being bought out by some company called ClearChannel. It has something to do with the FCC, but I never bothered to look into the details.

Just now, I was listening to the last show of one of the DJs there and she and her guest were just letting loose with their complaints on the station being bought out. They didn't care; they were going off the air anyway. I felt a sort of catharsis as I was listening to them. Screw the censors, right?

I actually have to thank my sister for introducing me to that station. She likes it more than me, since I have more of a tendency to listen to the classic rock stations. Still, any station in my area that plays "How Soon is Now?" by The Smiths is certainly one to tune in to.

But despite the brief period of time that I've been listening to them, I had fun. Their out-of-the-ordinary selections kept me company while I waited for yet another playing of "Free Bird" to whizz by one of the classic rock stations. I may have heard them play Radiohead only once (and to my surprise, it wasn't "Creep"!), but that moment added another surreal detour on my road through life and helped me from going crazy this past spring semester.

So thanks, WFNX. I hope some trite Country station or political talk radio doesn't take you over.

'Hands,' the debut album from perma-charming British dance diva Little Boots, is now 3-years old, and she’s finally putting some new jams out into the world, such as 'Shake' and 'I Wish'. Her latest 'Headphones' about the patently ridiculous activity of wearing your headphones to a disco, debuted on BBC Radio yesterday. Grab it below along with some our goodness.

No word on any albums in the works, although there are plenty of mixtapes out there if you know how to find them.

One sillie night at the house of my friend loba, we got the idea of starting a band. Were not the kind of fvolks who wanna get famous and shit, we were just trying to get a way of escape. Theres this phenomena going on round and they called it NINI or nini or warever the fuck ya spell dhat, means something like, neither work, neither study, I think this is just a new nick name for it, cuz this shit's been going on since, like bitrh of civilization; kids all aorund the country hanging around, with no decent job and no chances of superior schooll, getting the eye of the cartel  blinking at us.  So here we were, totally diffarent, we made the most of our chance and went to schooll, even longer than expected, we apreciate many of the things we could learn at public education, for working midclass suburban children like us, but we regret a lot of it as well, cuz most of our little friends ended up being repressed, non-thinking, unindividual, compulsively consumer adults and we honestly were going the same way, if it wasnt for pot and books and music, we would totally be there. we are, I guess, other kind of scammed controlled repressed people, graduated kids from dental school or prothesis technicians or licensed from university with a graphic design or communicologist diploma in our left hands, but nothing to do or nothing to learn or nowhere to go to work for self satisfaction and money or just for money, nothing pleasant to be occupied at, cuz everyone is having financial trouble and arts and crafts and non-sustancial products or activities are out of place. I have played a bit here and there but my friend is no musician, but fetiche plays a big role in his life and likes buyin/selling audio stuff and instruments, one of those long long days we decided to go to the roof and start making sound, we only had a crapy sampler from the 90's with like 40 secs of memory, a guitar a toy mattel drumpad, a nice midi controller and a compu.
at first I had to be really pacient cuz my friend learned to walk in front of me and soon, we caught dhe attention of his brother and another of our pals, four of us, no one is a musician but Im the only one who really knows how to play, so really really slowly, patiently we spent a lot of evenings and nithgs learning how to be a band, at first we only made noise and more noise so we decided to be a noise band, but soon rythm came to our understandings and control then months and months later we learned how to do melody and  harmony, and of course smoking the hahaha grass and drinking zipps of beer and just getting away from teh city at our own way, getting rid of the bitter taste that unsatisfaction leaves, just having fun, letting time and chance leading us to better situations, the slowly painly boring to death, poorest time went easier. there were a few non writen rules, we would never play the same song, we did no covers and every rehearsal, we would invent a new tune just to let it fade into aour memories, wanna hear bit?

Wis_H you a gL/orious "Valtari's" day

Sigur Ros - Ára Bátur

Lo intentaste todo
Sí, una mil veces
Has experimentado mucho
has sufrido mucho
Pero fuiste tú quien dejó todo
Dentro de mi corazón
Y eres tú quien una vez más
Despertó mí espíritu

Me separé, te separaste

Tú despiertas
Emociones
En una licuadora
Todo desordenado
Pero fuiste tú quien siempre
Estuvo ahí para mí
Y tú nunca me juzgaste
mí verdadera amiga

Me separé, te separaste
(hopelandic)

Navegas en los ríos
Con un viejo remo
Mucha agua
Nadas hasta a la orilla
Empujando las olas
Pero es en vano
Estas flotando en el mar
Dormida en la superficie
Ligera a través de la niebla

(hopelandic)
