Where to begin? I have literally hundreds of CD's. I have eclectic tastes for the most part and listen to what appeals to my current state. Pearl Jam, Radiohead, and Gomez immediately spring to mind. All I listen to lately are the new releases from REM and the Black Keys. Mostly Wilco, Eels, Beck, Death Cab, I am Kloot, Decemberists, Beastie Boys, Fratellis, Flaming Lips, Massive Attack, Portishead, Goldfrapp. But love every genre if done well. My heart breaks when I listen to Chet Baker and Elliott Smith. Mozart's Requiem is the single most moving piece that I have ever heard live. When I want to regress, R.E.M., Sex Pistols, Smiths, Dead Kennedys, Depeche, New Order, the Pogues, The Cure, Elvis Costello and the Femmes. Favourite books

As I am quite the avid reader, I could go on for days... I love to immerse myself in novels when done well but also enjoy history and historical fiction. Biographies are great. Reading a lot of the classics lately. These really stick with me: Wuthering Heights, Night- Elie Wiesel, Suite Francais by Nemirovsky, Everything by Augusten Burroughs, The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick, House of Sand and Fog by Dubus, The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, Blindness by Jose Saramago, and The Last Place on Earth by Roland Huntford. The most affecting, disturbing book that I have read in terms of transporting you to a place of despair is the Road. Currently on my nightstand: The Meaning of Night, Paris to the Moon and Rock On.

Favourite movies

Too many to list but a few standouts: Tsotsi, Cinema Paradiso, The Lives of Others, The Royal Tenenbaums, You Can Count on Me, The Savages, and Match Point. If I want to laugh, Strange Brew/ Blazing Saddles/ MP & the Holy Grail. If I want to cry, Simon Birch.
