Here, you can have everything you want, cause I know you can, you are powerful..., and you always win, I don't mind losing at all. I may get upset for the moment, but I don't hate, I'm just very disappointed.
You are a dream pusher, you are also a dream taker, you are almighty powerful.., but I do no admire.

Bon Iver [aka Justin Vernon] has a critically acclaimed self-titled album right now that the world is in the process of adoring [and for years to come I imagine]. But what could make such a successful release even better? I'm not sure...perhaps an accompanying nature-themed visual masterpiece for EACH track?? Absolutely..
Although the album is going to be re-released as a deluxe edition which includes the visual tracks, you can also purchase the trippy scenery HEREseparately for a fraction of the price [only $3.99]. And considering the deluxe edition does NOT include any new material, it makes total sense. FYI, the image above is from the visuals for Beth/Rest.
Here are some melt-in-your-brain songs off the album:
Radiohead just released THREE new remixes that didn’t make their remix collection TKOL RMX 1234567. The new set includes another Jamie xx rework of 'Bloom', as well as remixes by Anstamand Nathan Fake.
The new 3-track compliation will be called TKOL RMX 8[makes sense] and will be out 11/21.
Lucky for you, I have em' here to tide you over! :)
A new live video for chillwave band Neon Indian'ssong 'Hex Girlfriend' just surfaced today, and demonstrates that even without an audience they can still rock the {insert expletive here} out! NPR's 'All Songs Considered' program first debuted the video featuring the Texans in an empty, dimly lit venue sans a crowd.
The final product is a beautifully filmed live performance, shot from almost microscopic close range. Rather than wide shots of the sweaty people and ambient noise, we get twirling knobs, tangled cords, stomping feet and smoking equipment. The finished product is a highly intimate look at what a concert might look like from a band's perspective. Allowing you to study their style without getting shoved in the aisle..
Les Claypool, of Primus fame, is back with a brand new video. Well, it only look him a good 11 years but I think it was worth the wait. "I spent so many years dodging goofball bullets from doing the 'Wynona's Got A Big Brown Beaver' that I don't resist it anymore," Claypool said. "I got to put on a giant lobster suit, and that doesn't happen every day."
Lobster suit, you say?? Interesting..Please go on.
"Musically, it's upbeat," Claypool says. "But lyrically, the song is all about impending doom. This last year has been a trying time in my world, with my mother fading away, my brother's baby boy getting diagnosed with leukaemia, and other people having various ailments. So the song is about a storm coming, the rain must fall. But to depict that would have been the cliché thing to do, so we've got lobsters."
Also not intended is any sort of animal cruelty statement. Claypool--who is an avid fisherman -- has conjured some new songs for his seventh and latest album Green Naugahyde [already out] with titles like, 'Last Salmon Man' and 'Salmon Men.'
And as for the plight of the crustaceans?
"PETA would probably hate me for this," Claypool said, "...but I think it's kind of like going to sleep in a hot tub. Or like having too much wine and going to sleep."
Speaking of wine, the restaurant scenes feature vintages from the musician's own winery, Claypool Cellars. "You couldn't put any real alcohol in videos before, because MTV wouldn't play them," he said. "We thought, 'What the hell? MTV's not going to play this anyway!"
Very true sir...MTV is not the shining beacon of rebllious self-expression it use to be. Nevertheless, enjoy the video in all its glorious weirdness below:
I had a big brown beaver once...wait, no I didn't. That was Ted Nugent...
...Yikes! Sean Penn is looking really down these days!
Fear not, his humanitarian efforts will not be thwarted by his angst and eyeshadow. Penn is simply gearing up [and goth-ing out] for his role in the upcoming film 'This Must Be The Place'. And although named for a song of the same title by the Talking Heads[and with music by David Byrne OF the Talking Heads!!], he is certainly looking WAY more like Robert Smith. And if you don't know who THAT is, I feel bad for you.
The film [which opens next month], stars Penn as a bored, retired aging rock star who sets off on an existential journey of sorts to find his father's persecutor--who happens to be a Nazi war-criminal hiding out here in the States..So there's going to be some revenge sprinkled in there for good measure. Maybe..
Also appearing in the film are Frances McDormand [Almost Famous, Burn After Reading], and Judd Hirsch [A Beautiful Mind, Numb3rs].
Word has just got out that the Smashing Pumpkins are getting a larger-than-life reissue of their first two [and obviously best] albums, Gish [1991], and Siamese Dream [1993]. What I think we will all be looking forward to are the absolutely brain-explodingly insane number of bonus tracks that will be pouring off them.
Billy Corgan himself curated the bonus material for both reissues, and Bob Ludwig has remastered the music from the original tapes. Deluxe editions also feature DVDs of era-appropriate live shows recorded at the Metro in Chicago, and they’ll also have expansive liner notes, with track-by-track Corgan commentary.
Lucky for you, I got tracklists for both double-disc editions below. WARNING: much scrolling about to take place..
If you are a fan of mixtapes--and why the hell wouldn't you be--then you may no doubt be familiar with the music series known as LateNightTales. These studio sessions are albums curated by a host band/artist and features tracks [often B-sides or unreleased demos] by other fellow performers that compliment their own style.
The most recent compliation was curated by the electic electro-indie pop rockers, MGMT. It features some soothingly nice music by themselves, The Velvet Underground, Disco Inferno, The Chills and Julian Cope.
So, I got my seat assignment for the St. Louis show. Section 103, Row J, Seats 17-18. I'm a bit bummed because I wanted to be on Ed's side *tear*, but it seems from this that I'll have a fantastic view of the whole stage and everyone on it. Can anyone confirm if these are good seats or not??? :)

Here's a fifth song from the 1986 demo tape. Recorded at Abingdon School. Baby Radiohead minus Jonny. Saxophone heavy courtesy of Raz! Thanks Kloome !!
FAT GIRL
Here's a fourth song from the 1986 demo tape. Recorded at Abingdon School. Baby Radiohead minus Jonny. First line "Jennifer she wanted more, she wanted everything".
It’s funny how certain music scenes have become legendary – Merseybeat in the 60′s, London’s summer of punk in the 70′s, Sheffield’s Electro 80′s and Manchester’s ‘Baggy’ 90′s. When you break them down, they’re just a small handful of bands making very similar music during a very short but high-profile period.
When people talk about regional music scenes, they never talk about Oxford. Yet Oxford’s tight music community has been steadily producing genre-defining bands of the highest quality and integrity for pushing 30 years.
RIDE – who created (and indirectly named) the Shoegaze genre, TALULAH GOSH – the enfant terribles of Riot Girl, Britpop legends SUPERGRASS, Creation’s Alt-Rock heroes SWERVEDRIVER, current Post-Punk/Math-Rock phenomenon FOALS and – oh yeah – RADIOHEAD all came directly from this one scene. They built and took inspiration from it, they got support and encouragement from it, they cut their teeth in its venues and ultimately were launched into worldwide success from it.
But nobody’s ever heard of it.
So now, all of those bands, along with their less-succesful friends and contemporaries and the promoters, managers, journalists, record label owners and gig-goers who built the scene tell their story.
Anyone Can Play Guitar is not like most music docs. Using the unheard stories of some of the greatest bands and the greatest stories of some of the unheard bands as the backdrop to a truly unique and epic saga of success, failure, good intentions and bad outcomes. It refuses to mythologise and explores what can be achieved with community and the harsh realities of the music industry.
From the DIY spirit of the early 80′s right through to the controversial corporatisation of Oxford’s best-loved venue, ACPG tracks three decades of highs and lows in a punchy, really engaging style.
The film is narrated by cult comedian Stewart Lee
ACPG was made completely independently by film-maker and music video director Jon Spira over the course of three years.
Klootme has added a demo (1986) with On Friday's songs !!!!
The songs are: Girl (in the purple dress) and Everybody Knows
Thank you so much Klootme for your demo and story !! absolutely amazing !!!!!!
About this demo Klootme told me:
"History behind the tape is that my husband was at school with the band and partied with them (before Jonny joined them!). Phil was at Uni with us both in Liverpool. The demo was given to my husband at 17 in school. We used to go and see them play in Oxford and was friends with them. They were fairly inactive from 1987 -1990 as a band. But when everyone had finished Uni they got back together and tried to make a go of it. They went to the States...we went backpacking to India for 6 months.
Six months later we retured from India...saw Colin with a binbag full of laundry at the lauderette....."so much for the States" we laughed......."
I remember seeing them in in Oxford where me and my husband made up an audience of 6!
They weren't COOL.
The rest is history..... "
Nosotros éramos amigos y solíamos ir a verlos tocar a Oxford.
No eran nada cool ¡!
El resto ya es historia conocida … "
FRAGILE FRIEND
Here's a third song from the 1986 demo tape. Recorded at Abingdon School. Baby Radiohead minus Jonny. Hear the '80's......Psychedelic Furs, The Waterboys, U2 and The Smiths influence but take note of the very Radiohead ending! Thom's voice as a 17 year old....And Phil's drumming!
Foster The People are clearly one of the top break-out Indie bands this of this year. Having bypassed the usual gambit of non-stop touring, guerilla marketing and street team assemblage, and ending up at Saturday Night Live and a slew of festivals, it would be unusual for anyone to not know who they are...right?
Wrong.
Turns out even the brainiest of citizens have problems when it comes to knowing what's important to the kids these days. Appearing in a $2000 question [or answer form rather..] was the following:
'Got that song "Pumped Up Kicks" stuck in your head? Blame this trio led by Mark Foster.'
Omg! Are you serious Alec?? You just gave them the answer! But alas, not one of the contestants could even venture a guess that was even close. Guess you can only be smart OR cool...
Watch the people who no doubt went home later and googled them HERE.
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, collectively known as She & Him [makes sense] just released a special Christmas album, done in that simple yet classic 50's era style that Zooey is so very good at channeling.
And even though most people dont like to think about the stress and family drama that the Holiday season promises until after chowing down on turkey later this month, how could you not want to hear some carols when they're sung so beautifully by Zooey [who is quite a looker herself!].
So here are some of my favorites from the album, which feature classics from Frank Sinatra and The Carpenters.
Was anyone on here able to get Atlanta tickets through WASTE? Its my understanding that Philips is doing paperless ticketing by scanning the credit card used for the ones purchased through Ticketmaster. Does anyone know if this applies to the WASTE tickets as well or do we need to go through Will Call and present the confirmation email and ID to get our tickets?
