Damn.  I totally missed the boat and have no Titanic Last Supper reenactment plans.

If I quit smoking and start planning now, I may be able to make the Hindenburg Luftbrat Picnic of 2037 and perhaps even the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Town BBQs in 2045.  I doubt I'll be around for the Jonestown Kool-Aid Social in 2078 or the September 11th Bagel Breakfast of 2101.

Best,

Chaz

Artproject story pt 2 / just for fun!

Proportionately there is a huge amount of recordings for this current project before i was sure what sort of songs would make sense.  Over the past two years i have encountered so many different methods for trying to make new music that have all added up to where i am now.  Today finally i was sure to say, I am hoping for a certain amount of songs to complete, and I need to choose which ones will be completed earlier to get a feel for completing the others.  Now i am focusing my occasional direct work and frequent indirect thinking and dreaming on three of seven songs and leaving room for two other songs that may come about in the process of working on the first three.

I would not work on music if it didn't feel the way it does!  In no way do i feel as mundanely about the process as it might sound in the somewhat dry descriptions above.  I am just trying to sort out the current process and am happy to show someone else what is being felt as well!

It feels like i am often starting from the very beginning.  This will be the first album with real song structure and vocals and although some artists of music and related work can learn songwriting early, for me it has taken years of patience making abstract and improvised songs without vocals before the current songs have emerged in a way that feels natural.

From last spring the plan was to instead of an album have the current work be more of a project than an album.  There is again such a daunting amount of sound recording and ideas/poems... less visual artwork than i would like... but it is exciting for someone otherwise not having much art with which to work to have what often feels like too much to recall at a given time, just as one's own conscious interpretation of memory itself and memories themselves.

poems next time!  more free writing than details...   and eventually music to post : )    even without an audience it is exciting, always tomorrow is a leap day, transformation reveals itself as self-aware.

RADIOHEAD IN NEWARK NJ

https://www.facebook.com/events/192729644162823/

you can see it from the north exit of the stadium.

Seed has been Cultivating Visionary Exploration in downtown Newark, NJ since 2007. We created an environment for artists and musicians to come together and brainstorm, exhibit art, we also had live studio sessions. We want to raise awareness and create a cultural conversation amongst people. Through art and music we have brought together many amazing artists that have created relationships that are vital to performing and surviving as an artist. Art is the Seed to any community and the vision of the project has been to cross pollinate, to unveil the beauty of our existence. WE ARE IN NEED OF URGENT SUPPORT SO WE CAN REOPEN OUR EXPERIMENTAL ARTISTS FACILITY.

We are fans, and we are trying to create something for other Radiohead fans that want to relax before rushing home after the show is over.

Some people are going to want to go out and share time with other like -minded people. What a better place to do it, support a local arts movement.

these dj's get a BIG UP for supporting this vision of SEED

{Higher Nebulae}
Turning up on the EDM scene in May of 2009, Higher Nebulae has quickly become a staple on the underground, club, and festival circuits...having moved from the steamy warehouses of Brooklyn to NYC's notorious Club Love, a silent disco set at Camp Bisco IX, and most recently warming things up for a New Year's Eve 2012 capacity crowd @ Best Buy Theater in Times Square, NYC.

Deep and tech house, soulful and nu-disco being his tools of choice, Higher Nebulae follows three simple rules: play the room, make them dance, hold it down...

Higher Nebulae has shared the bill with Orchard Lounge, DJ Logic, George Clinton, Infected Mushroom, Future Rock, Biodiesel, Emancipator, Sonic Spank, Damn Right! and many more...and is ever grateful to the producers he mixes to move the dance floor.

{Mikey Likes iT: Producer}
NJ based EDM producer whose music is a blend of intricate bass-lines and atmospheric soundscapes. Mikey began his courtship with music at the age of 13 when he picked up a pair of Technics 1200's and began experimenting with happy hardcore and techno. His skills progressed quickly and soon he was playing raves and warehouse parties with... some of the biggest DJ's on the east coast. After entering college, Mikey felt the urge to delve deeper into the creative side of music and began producing with Ableton. His early beats were infused with both Hip-Hop and Electronic rhythms, often blurring the line between the two. He soon discovered that bass was his weapon of choice, and his tracks started to take on more of a dubstep feel. During this time, Mikey was a member of the DJ group The Future Kids with Jasha Tull aka Space Jesus and Bart Tyrpien aka Bartlomein. The dance friendly blends and remixes which made The Future Kids a household name in the central Jersey party scene taught Mikey the methods to hype a crowd. In 2011, these three came together to form the Planet Cognac collective, often collaborating on productions and sharing the stage at shows. These days, Mikey's music can best be described as a bass-fueled deep space adventure sprinkled with hints of glitch-hop, lazerbass, breaks, drum n' bass, and dubstep. His energetic sets have left crowds in a frenzy across the Northeast, playing alongside acts such as Conspirator, Phutureprimitive, Bluetech, KJ Sawka, Wobblesauce, Damn Right, Space Jesus, and many others. One thing that's been proven: if Mikey likes it, your friends will too.

On Being Bipolar.

I’m your instant coffee child.

Black and mild

Feel me hunger

Feel me wild

Margarine ripped from the apple core

Smathers the toast face down on the floor.

Please tell me mister

Have you the score?

I’ve lost track and

I can’t breathe anymore.

My blood grows cold

I’ve been bought and sold

As dead as a doornail left melting on the stove

If this is Eden perhaps it has froze

I’ve cut all my fingers while holding this rose.

I’m your instant coffee child.

Black and mild

Feel me hunger

Feel me wild

Tinker toy slave drivers are rubbing me raw

Delegating monsters with slack hinged jaws

Lead me to freedom

And carpet the walls

At least when I hit them I won’t bruise any of these balls.

For I’m insane to you

There’s nothing I can do

To change your mind

I’m the watermelon rind

That no one wants

That no one wants.

Be Cruel to Me.

At first I paled orange, the pride of being worn.

Withhold me down,

strangle that crown.

Body dysmorphic, slightly ignore it.

Be cruel to me.

Be cruel to me.

I am on the dawn, but the flashbulb’s still on.

There’s too much light to be mine tonight.

Release me of the hunger pangs,

the desperate flaunt,

the nun insane.

Justice, how I crave the same, impunity,

I am beauty.

I am beauty.

Life in relief

where I end and you begin

11010935681?profile=original

I am not the only one who loves being inspired by Radiohead in this stupid world. Anyway, out there many people also do many things inspired by the band. One of them is Steve Garside. Living in Manchester, an artist, designer, published poet and writer; a new lovely friend I met through waste-central, the social media site for Radiohead fans. He painted a painting titled Where I End And You Begin (the title is the same as the Radiohead song title off the Hail To Thief album), as seen on the gallery of his website http://stevegarside.co.uk/gallery10.html.

I was curious why Steve Garside used the Radiohead song title for his painting title. He said “The use of the Radiohead title is twofold. First; because I was listening to it – I painted that while listening to the track over and over, I usually listen to one track while I paint or write. I find it helps to submerge into the ‘character’ of creating. And the second, because I think that the words provide a metaphorical dimension to the work. A statement perhaps of where those in the picture find themselves in the aspect of the painting”. Now I know the reasons.

At first, I was only interested in the title without understanding what the painting means (you know, I am not an artist and know less about painting) before I asked and he explained. I’ve seen the painting many times while was trying to figure it out. I could only see two characters in it, (The main character is a man reaching out his hand, the other is a long-haired woman laying down on the right bottom part of the painting) before he said “there are three in the painting and also you the viewer”. I tried to find the another character which is “invisible” at first and then I found it! A man whose face appears on the left bottom part of the canvas. “It’s only a partial face”, Steve explained.

“The painting is a story”, he said. These words I’ve never heard before and I didn’t know what he meant; so he explained, “I think most paintings express emotion and if they don’t then perhaps they are not paintings”. Well, I started to understand his statement, but then I asked him another question – what kind of emotions express in this painting? He answered me with the same question, “It should be me asking your question,’ he said, “What emotion does it provide you with?” Well, I see emotions on the faces and hands. Through the title and the painting itself, I see something contrary occurs. It’s like someone starts to do something and the others have just finished; someone want act in some way, and the others don’t. Steve explained, “I get mixed opinions, some people see pain, some don’t”.

If the painting is a story, it must have themes and motifs, and I don’t want to make mistakes interpreting them. In this context, Steve explained, “There are socio-political and philosophical dimensions to the work, after all it is a statement about how i see western life, the separation of ourselves within the system we live within. This in itself, is not such a new observation, Marx for example had much to say about this kind of thing. My view though is more from a spiritual perspective; the sense of loss of the self due to the way life is sold to us – it removes a sense of self and replaces it with the concept that we are all individuals; for me there is no ‘I’ in ‘individual in this context”.

Inspiring Radiohead. It’s amazing how a fan created beautiful artwork while listening one of their tracks on repeat. The track helped him submerge into the ‘character’ of creating. I love anything related to Radiohead and this one too.
