Prescription for sadness and confusion

nurture yourself. go for a long walk on the beach or in the woods. notice all that surrounds you.

eat a naughty, or some sushi, candy, milkshake, whatever makes you feel some satisfaction for a minute or two.

swim in the pool or the nearest body of water. see the beauty of this big green and blue earth.

expose yourself to well lit area's. the sun will provide you with that much needed vitamin d.

surround yourself with good trustworthy friends. don't just listen to the voices in your head.

watch a funny movie, or listen to upbeat music. even if you don't want to.(my favorite is the Simpsons)

rest and relax, try to take not just give. when you feel better you can give again.

try not to medicate. alcohol is a depressive. maybe take in some caffiene, but not too much...

try to realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. take it one step, one minute, one day at a time.

you are wanted, needed and loved, even though you don't feel worthy right now.

remember this too shall pass. depression is not a curse, it is time to take perspective. start a new path.

i wish you peace in body, mind and soul. please accept my gift of prayer and hope.  ;)11010953254?profile=original

“We're going to meet a lot of lonely people in the next week and the next month and the next year. And when they ask us what we're doing, you can say, We're remembering. That's where we'll win out in the long run. And someday we'll remember so much that we'll build the biggest goddamn steamshovel in history and dig the biggest grave of all time and shove war in it and cover it up.”  Farenheit 451Ray Bradbury (RIP)

Depression....

i have suffered from it since i was 6 years old. i didn't understand why some people didn't question their existance the way i did. when i figured out that the frequency of that questioning was not "normal", i finally did something about it. i have learned over the years, that depression and alcoholism was/is rampant in my family tree. my maternal grandmother committed suicide by handgun at 40 years old. my father at age 50 tried to committ suicide with a rifle but was too drunk to succeed.

after my son was born i suffered horribly from post partum depression. the doctors back then treated it with tranquilizers, bad idea... i don't miss the suffering at all since my life took a turn. i don't miss the deep dark moments. i don't question life or situations like i did. i certainly don't miss the loneliness and isolation.

when i had my son, it/life was all about him. he needed me. YOUR children need YOU more than you can possibly imagine! your children look to you for answers about life and situations. it is not just about you anymore! i pray you choose health, life, progress, change, looking forward, not backwards.

i love life now. i have wonderful music by a phenominal rock group called Radiohead that keeps me company. when i am sad, happy, upset, whatever my mood, i listen to one of their albums or watch a video of theirs. i begin to sing, dance, rock, shout, and dance again!  thank you mr. yorke, mr. selway, mr. c. greenwood, mr. j. greenwood and mr. obrien, for literally helping me stay alive! Blessings and Peace to you and your families. (please forgive the spelling mistakes, i am typing in the dark again...)11010949882?profile=original

Hey guys!

It's day 245 at 365stories... Take a look at what I've already managed to painfully, exhaustedly, strenuously and by some miracle (Cue Phil Selway) have written every day for the last 245 days (I started on day 0). So far I have managed to write sci fi, thriller, comedy (sometimes not by intention), horror (check out Day 69) and attempted love story, plot devices and characterisation. I hope I have at least entertained someone - if only for a few moments!

Happy to receive criticism and comments!

And if I can even vaguely make this to do with Radiohead.... I met Thom Yorke once and chatted to him in the street?

Per the recommendation of those on Reddit, I am sharing this here, with ya'll. I am a lurker, but have never posted before, but I did want to get this out there:

First, the show was AMAZING. It was my first time seeing them live (FINALLY!) and I could not have asked for a better show. Seriously. Hats off to Radiohead and all there for an amazing experience. I know the parking lot was buzzing with excitement after the show, but in the midst of it all, something terrible happened. I'll try to tell the story as clearly as possible, but let me know if you have any questions/need clarification.

Anyone who was at Riverbend on June 5th knows that the parking lot was jam packed after the show. My party spent a solid 15-20 minutes just sitting in our parking spot, unable to move or go anywhere (and none of the cars around us could move either). Eventually, a few lucky people squeaked out, opening a second "aisle" in our row, but it was an aisle that dead-ended into even more traffic. No one was going anywhere.

Amid all of this, a guy in a Silver Honda (SH) starts to pursue the new aisle. Mind you, people are still wandering around, trying to find their cars, and a pedestrian (P) crosses in front of his car, so SH maced the guy in the face. This is when my friends and I noticed P fall in front of the car, at which point, SH attempted to run him over. I jumped out of the car and tried to drag the maced man to safety, but the driver (SH) kept inching forward, hitting me and my legs a few times (but not too hard). All the while, he was yelling for us to get out of the way or he was going to run us over.

At some point, Silver Honda (SH) had collided with an SUV with two passengers. A girl (we'll call her CG), and her boyfriend (BF). Even after doing noticeable damage to their car, he proceeded to mace CG in the face, as she was in the passenger seat. Her BF, also in the car, was also in range of the mace. At this point, CG began bawling, her BF was yelling at SH, and I began taking pictures of the car/license plate/assailant, and called the cops.

Before the cops could arrive, and while CG was having what appeared to be a panic attack, the man in the Silver Honda got back into his car and tried to drive off. Long story short here: the police showed up, followed SH (he had made it 100ft away by this point...) and got the girl medical attention. She was incredibly distraught, and I can only imagine that this experience ruined an otherwise phenomenal experience for her.

I do want to give props to the surrounding Radiohead fans. When we were trying to flush the girl's (CG) eyes out, we ran out of water. When I yelled "Does anyone have any water?" I was immediately handed a Nalgene and other bottles of water were provided. Those in their surrounding cars were incredibly helpful and a true representation of how wonderful some Radiohead fans can be.

Now, while I by no means want to cast a shadow over the show, myself, my boyfriend, and the members of Reddit were all concerned for this girl. Not only did she suffer physical pain and emotional distress at the hand of a complete jerk, but as I said before, it likely cast a hurricane of horrible over her entire experience. I am not exaggerating when I say that the man (SH) literally sprayed mace directly into her face and eyes. To quote my boyfriend's original Reddit post:

"All I'm really hoping for is that, at the very least, Radiohead somehow gets wind of this and can contact the police to find the girl to send her something special. I truly felt so bad for her having to put up with this shit. She looked younger than myself (I'm 24) and I think it could have ruined what might have been one of the most memorable nights of her life with her boy."

As those who responded to the post agreed, someone suggested jumping over to WasteCentral, and thus, here I am. I have no idea who this girl was, as we stayed to file witness statements after the event, but she was just on her way back from medical as we were leaving, but it would be awesome if somehow we could restore the specialness of her evening. At the very least, I wanted to get word out there because this kind of behaviour is incredibly inappropriate.

In summary: A girl's (and two others') night was ruined after another 'fan' maced her in the parking lot after the show. Is there anything we can do to restore the specialness of her experience?

Thanks for reading!

Valtari reviewd

Before I get to the heart of the matter. Let's just say that when a band puts out an album it's should be viewed as a statement or '' mise au point'' of where they currently are musically. The impact it will have on listeners depends on the receptiveness of the listener if the fans at the receiving end are tuned in on the bands present state of mind, it will be a good record if not well..., If we assume that the above is true then all reviews are biased and mine will be also.

Now to Valtari. This record is unlike anything else from Sigur Ros so I will not be making any comparatives to previous works. This album is Beautifull! very calm at least on the surface, at times it is very soothing and at times it can be very disturbing.

It is not an easy first time listen but Valtari grows on you the more you do. The songs or rather the soundscapes on this album make you travel to wonderfully calm states of mind and cojure up beautifull images but everywhere along the way there are points where you are brought back to a bleaker reality and  sometimes it is quite disturbing. An example of this is the ending of Eg anda the first track where the final is a violent irruption of machine noise that breaks up the beautifull images conjured up by the rest of the piece, you can barely hear hints of faint vocals and piano  trying to remind you of the beauty of Ég Anda but the parasite noises finally drown out all the beauty. These disturbing sound intrusions are as mentionned previously present in all pieces except the last track Fjögúr Píanó with only piano and strings wich fade in utter calm right down to the last note in a wonderfull decrescendo.

tracklist 1. Ég Anda 2. Ekki Múkk 3. Varúð 4. Rembihnútur 5. Dauðalogn 6. Varðeldur 7. Valtari 8. Fjögúr Píanó

When he comes in among trees he will spend time touching them, studying them, sitting very quietly near them and understanding that each tree is a creature, carrying on its individual life, aware of what's happening around it, not just some hunk of wood to be cut down. Slothrop's family actually made its money killing trees, amputating them from their roots, chopping them up, grinding them to pulp, bleaching that to paper and getting paid for that with more paper. "That's Really insane." He shakes his head. "There's insanity in my family." He looks up. The trees are still. They know he's there. They probably also know what he's thinking. "I'm Sorry." He tells them. "I can't do anything about those people, they're all out of my reach. What can I do?" A medium sized pine nearby nods its top and suggests, "Next time you come across a logging operation out here, find one of their tractors that isn't being guarded, and take its oil filter with you. That's what you can do."
