UPDATE January 2012 - a year after the release and 2 years after the earthquake:
as per Oxfam, our DVD has raised $23,690 in a total of 1236 gifts.... from 42 countries!! Those of you who donated your footage and those of you who contributed to raising money for Haiti - THANK YOU!!!!!!
------------------
Hi all!!
SO
But remember - it was a SPECIAL show with a SPECIAL purpose – to raise badly needed funds for those who lived through the devastation. And it seemed only appropriate that the DVD should carry on some of these goals. So on the behalf of our little team of three, I contacted the band/management to tell them about our project and asked to name a charity of their choice - so that those downloading the DVD could donate some money to it – however much they can (‘cause we trust Radiohead’s choices don’t we?). We were thrilled to hear that Radiohead supported our efforts :-) and named Haiti to be the ‘beneficiary’ of such donations. They also chose Oxfam – who originally helped to organize the show – as the organization that would handle it. So I asked Oxfam if they could create a DEDICATED LINK for us, Radiohead fans, so in the end, we would be able to know how much we have raised and let the band know too!.... I am ecstatic to tell you that it all happened!
Finally, Kii Arens – the author of the original ‘bandaid’ poster for the show - stepped forward to create artwork for our DVD! You see it on top of the post but the real hi-rez file is included in the DVD (so don’t rip this blog :)) – thanks, Kii!!
Enormous thanks to RADIOHEAD for EVERYTHING, Chris Hufford (Chris, you’re awesome!) and Bob Ferguson at Oxfam America (I owe you multiple drinks!) for making it fall into place (uhm - did I just say this?)
In this project, we have 14 video tapers, 4 audio tapers (everyone is listed on all art and all info files), more audio mixing by hoserama and an astounding amount of editing work by formengr (love you, form!) – I feel like we are all thanking each other, and it feels great! So THANKS again!!
UPDATE January 29, 2012 -- For those who freak out about torrents --- as you know, megaupload seized to exist, so we have re-uploaded the whole thing to WUpload for you :-) :
It's indefinable. Old seams of sentences are tearing apart. And, I'm not sure, but these parts look like meat loafs.
If you're not able to distinguish between stars in the window and illusion of it created by a computer screen, it's bad. And when music is generating galaxies itself, than you don't know what to think, maybe it's better to not to think at all. These are separated from it's context not even small thoughts but tiny thoughts. The context was "A Midnight Clear" or what else my mind displayed that time. But these thoughts haven't got it, so they have no sense. No sense for everyone, nobody. But I'm not everyone or nobody, I am myself, so they make sense to me. As much as laws of physics. Maybe more, sometimes. And I think it's the only thing that really matters.
You used to be alright What happened? Did the cat get your tongue?
I don't know what I want to say, actually.
All that I wanted to say has been created in a language of my thoughts that is impossible to translate into any other. Read more…
Radiohead contribute 14 songs to documentary 'The Island President' soundtrack
The band, who are currently preparing for their extensive world tour in support of 'The King Of Limbs', have allowed a large number of their songs to be used in the soundtrack of a new documentary which looks at the plight of the Republic of Maldives.
Radiohead have contributed 14 songs from their back catalogue to the soundtrack of new documentary The Island President.
Among the Radiohead songs featured on the soundtrack are 'Idioteque', 'Everything In Its Right Place', 'Reckoner', 'House Of Cards' and 'How To Disappear Completely'.
Thom wrote on DAS:”'The Island President' is a film about the Maldives, and the struggle of President Nasheed to get the voice of a small nation heard in the climate change debate. Unless something is done to stop rising sea levels they will lose everything. The country will be under water. Some of our music was used to help tell the story."
Worst bit was being sick best bit was boat doing 12 knots with no engine' @thomyorke after 2 days on #RainbowWarrior3
Rainbow Warrior III - open boat days in London Greenpeace UK
“I thought it would be like being on the tour bus,” he groaned at one point. “But it ain’t.”
When the resident rock star Thom Yorke finally appears from his cabin, still looking a bit green, he is remarkably upbeat about the experience.
“I thought it would be like being on the tour bus,” he groaned at one point. “But it ain’t.”
He was partly inspired to come on the adventure by his young 10-year-old son Noah, who like most boys his age is obsessed with oceans – even if they do make him sick – and his own fascination in technical solutions to environmental problems.
“The worst thing was throwing up – which we did a lot,” says Thom. “The best thing about it is the boat, all the technology, the bridge, the radar, the sails, the communications, the engine room.”
It is unusual to hear a singer enthusing about the potential for sail on cargo ships, but then Thom Yorke was never an ordinary pop star.
He became involved in the climate change movement after having children and waking up every night “just terrified”.
However the experience of going to international climate talks and watching David Cameron “go backwards” on the environment has made him disillusioned with the political process and increasingly angry.
He wants action rather than words and Rainbow Warrior felt like an opportunity to make things happen.
"Plastic anything is like contraband," the band Liars wrote about touring with Radiohead. "Every bus and truck runs on biofuel. There is no idling, rather some new-fangled way to deliver electricity cleanly. They don't do airfreight, either. The list goes on. Everything is supremely managed to reduce the 'footprint.'" Instead of flying their gear, singer Thom Yorke insisted on buying two sets of equipment and at one point even threatened to quit touring altogether, citing environmental concerns. But instead of hanging it up, the band worked to green their tours and support climate change awareness campaigns like Friends of the Earth. Though Yorke refused to meet with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to discuss the environment, citing his lack of "environmental credentials," he's similarly critical of himself. "I haven't done enough," he told an Australian newspaper in 2006. "The job I'm in is a job that wastes energy left, right and centre. It's madness."

More than 2,000 people braved the wind and rain today to form an image of King Canute designed by Radiohead lead-singer Thom Yorke. Yorke explained, “The plan is to make images visible from the skies to remind those in Cancun that we can't keep putting this off.”
The public art display was designed to send a climate warning to political leaders in the run-up to the UN Climate Talks in Cancun. According to legend, King Canute set his throne by the sea shore and commanded the tide to halt, only to be soaked by the ocean’s waves. Just as Canute realized his own hubris, world leaders today must realize the dangers of ignoring climate change and rise to solving the challenge.
“We need politicians today to have a ‘Canute’ moment,” said 350.org founder, American author and environmentalist Bill McKibben. “Scientists are clearly warning there is too much carbon in the atmosphere. World leaders can't avoid that reality any longer."350.org is named after 350 parts per million, what scientists say is the safe upper limit of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. NASA calculates the current level of CO2 at more than 390 ppm.
The image formed on the beaches of Brighton-Hove was designed by Yorke and his long-time collaborator Stanley Donwood. The picture also appeared on the cover of Yorke’s album Eraser. Yorke helped promote the event on Radiohead’s website and four million person strong Facebook page.
The event was one of over a dozen similar displays taking place as part of 350 EARTH, the first planetary art show for the climate. The image of King Canute was joined by a giant sun in South Africa; a polar bear on an Icelandic glacier; a scarab in the Egyptian desert; an eagle in Los Angeles; and many more. Hi-res photos and videos of the events are available on the earth.350.org website. The Brighton-Hove event had the backing of Brighton & Hove Council, who spearhead a city-wide coalition of organisations and businesses that form 10:10 Brighton & Hove. All have pledged to reduce CO2 emissions by 10% in a year by simple, achievable measures, in a bid to minimise the effects of climate change.
Tom Chute, coordinator of 10:10 Brighton & Hove, said: "The people of Brighton & Hove have shown real enthusiasm for environmental issues over the last year, lending a hand to 350’s Earth Art project will really put Brighton & Hove's climate change action on the map." Councillor Mary Mears, of Brighton & Hove Council, said: "It's great that Brighton & Hove has been chosen as the UK venue for this international event to tackle climate change. It links city strengths in art, environment and voluntary action together; and the strong involvement of the city 10:10 campaign, which we backed from the outset. We’re very happy that once again people will be looking towards Brighton & Hove for inspiration on tackling climate change."
Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org said: "The first pictures of Earth from space helped launch the modern environmental movement. We hope these art pieces can help spark a new movement to solve the climate crisis. Art is not a substitute for political action, but it can help build a public movement that can begin to apply real pressure on our politicians.”
It ain`t finished, obviously:) and I think it never will be, sadly:P O.K. but nevertheless I thought it a good idea to add it here. And this is from an earlyer live from 1996, done based on a stillframe that in my eyes standed out and the name of that song was Street Spirit. I improvised on some parts obviously, so pardon if it`s not exactly the same.
If you could touch it... That dream I sometimes have when I'm eating, drinking, thinking. Colourful like butterflies, sunny and bright. It's happiness. I miss it.
(last autumn...)
Now just snow. Freezing air. Xmas songs and my chair opposite a screen. I should remember to clean all my rooms. To learn, to eat not too less and to sleep. Without waking up.

The silence reminds that aloneness is all there is - that on the edge of a great crag we stand waiting, a cliff behind us and a chasm before us, wide space beside us and black night above us, and that within the self, as dark as the great depths, it is there we create the beloved

My spirit cries at you, in silence howls, While burning like the bush you thwart my eyes; What prophet thought possessed you; what disguise Did substance press on you, who are a soul, An angel or a mouth, river of doubt Pouring within the banks of certainty, Eating out the soil, then traveling on, And on, and on—sucking the gush of mud From underfoot, converting it to stone: On what plaque of still laws, breaking my head, Can I now rest, less wanted than your body?
