zombie dreams

I had this one scary dream at this room for rent place during the winter in 2008. there were vampire like people popping up everywhere. they were like vampire/zombie. they eventually infected every person I knew or that was present in my dream. so then i was the only one left who was not infected. the funny part was that you had to let them infect you. they were not allowed to infect you unless you gave them permission. so at the end of my dream these infected police officers try to convince me to get this infection. they were talking to me trying to trick me into giving them permission. It seemed like every where i went there they were getting the infection like a flu shot. so i stopped running and just tried to think of a place where I could go to get away from them. then this police officer comes up to me laughing and shaking his head he pulls out a gun smiles and shoots me in the arm. and I am relieved that he didn't bite me. then I woke up.

a differrent war

I had this dream that I was with friends on a big "c" shaped couch. the only seat available was like this driver seat of a car. I sat down in it and I kept on accidentally hitting buttons that were like blinkers and high beams and it was disrupting the show that everyone was watching on TV. I was like, "I got to get out of this seat I keep hitting all these buttons". then people started talking about how there is a big flood coming and that we need to get prepared. and they said,  " pat for you tonight; you have a train to catch".

then I was approached by this guy he said, "you are going with us to fight in the war. you will be protected from the flood". he showed me this paper where I had signed up. and he promised me i would not be in any danger.

so we get in this big space ship and this guy takes me over to the weapons box kind of looked like a toy box. he pulls out all these big scary guns and tells me how they are so good at wiping "them" out. I was very scared to hold the guns. then he said, "these are easy to hold they are just like the ones you had as a child.

the man said, "they are outside right now but they aren't my color. and your colors are now changed. some people can free them selves". and then he stepped inside the wall and sealed it with plastic. all I could see was his empty hand. as he left he said, "change colors not these colors. they sure ain't black and white". and then I thought I had been tricked into getting into this spaceship and was trapped forever. I started panicking and looking for a way out. then I met this girl and I asked her where everybody went and how to get out.

I asked her if we were going back to earth.
she said, "justin heard the birds outside and saw the sun in the sky".
I thought who is that? I asked her, "did he go outside?".
she said, "yes, he went out that door over there. if you go out there you can fight in the war."
I said, "I don't have any weapons".
she said, "that's not your problem anymore. go out the door and hear the birds sing".

so I went through the door. I had to tear through a few layers of plastic but I eventually found my way out. the spaceship disappeared as i stepped out. when I got outside there was a large group of people and a stage with about 20 musicians singing and making music. then Thom Yorke of radiohead (one of my favorite bands of all time) found me in the crowd.

he said, "that was a long trip you took I just hope you know to stay put. come look. here in this place we feed and take care of these birds because they are beautiful. these birds sing and these birds live in harmony. we don't have a bread shortage. people feed the birds all day here". and I saw two pigeon like birds walking together side by side through a park.

then I asked Thom Yorke if this was the united kingdom. then he said, "it's a new country you don't have to leave". I said, "I don't understand is this england or something?". then he said, "you could go there if you wanted to". then he said, "don't lie it's a beautiful world so live in it".

then I woke up.

I will give you a window

I fell asleep watching the T.V. one night. In my dream I was wandering around in this big abandoned hotel. I kept on meeting people...probably commercials and comedians. the hotel was a maze and everyone was walking around in it. not everyone was trying to get out. some people liked living there. I met one guy who had been there for two years. and I met another person who told me they made their way out a year ago but they decided to come back and do it again. they told me that the hotel is alive and that the rooms and hallways change every now and again. I remember someone telling me that they would give me a window and they just repeated that sentence over and over. then I started to get scared and I started looking for a way out. one person that was wandering with our group told me I should stay and help them fix things up and make the place look nice. that's when a man to the far right told me that, "he had left and come back and he had been here for two years."
the people would even meet for church at night. the church service had a teacher teaching...this is extremely hard to remember... at one point me and some people were all sitting at our desks looking at the teacher and we took a test and I was not paying attention enough to realize there was a test going on. and I remember I failed the test because I was unaware of it.
then the group began to pick up trash around the hotel. the goal was to find a good use for the trash.

there was this choir too. it was crazy! Les Clay Pool was playing bass, some dude jamming out on guitar, and a bunch of other people singing; all standing together like a church choir. I kind of thought it was cool at first but then I noticed we were still trapped in the dirty broken down abandoned hotel; I freaked out and started looking for a way out. all the windows had steel bars on them. then I found a big room with chairs and big glass windows. there was someone in the room; they said, "I know this looks normal but these windows are only here for a time". I reached into my pocket and found my pocket knife. I started tearing away layers of the screen and then I finally found the glass. I took a chair and broke the window. a grown woman told me to look out the window and I saw tons of cars and buses. and as I was about to jump out the window people came rushing into the room. I told them that I had found a way out. no one really cared about the outside they were just mad that I broke a window. one person said that there are other ways to get out of here. I was getting really claustrophobic and I could not stand it anymore. I climbed out of the window and dropped to the ground. and it was like every one was leaving at one time. I did not know any one so no one would give me a ride. I watched everyone drive away. then I woke up.

praire

my new desert town is lonely. there is nothing sadder than a melancholy cowboy. there is nothing emptier than the sandy void and the interminable grey. nothing worse than a broken well and my horse is sick. the radio works intermittently, just enough to remind me of better places. oh god i wish i could fly.

Unvarying gift from a star

Somewhere on this glorious earth at each and every moment in time the sun is rising. At that moment the dark fades to gold. Halfway around the world in that exact same moment the sun is setting, a return to that cool blue darkness.

Why do I even bother anymore ?

I am left wondering about the working synapses of the NY Times journalists, whose word is obviously non-questionned by French ones. Why the fuck do they just stay around, with their mouths gaping like dead fish, believing everything that's being told them - the article stinks of reheated official Pepsi report stuff - and not suggest that one of the problems is our fucking desire to have everything, all the time ? Oranges in February, in Europe ? (talking about Europe because I don't know enough about US climate) Of course it takes a lot to make them grow, that's unnatural ! Idiots !!!Anyway, I know it's Pepsi asking for this, but orange juice ? Come on, that's not what the majority of people drink on Earth, no need to stay on our consumerist viewpoint :). What about the CO2 cost of cleaning water of all the chemicals we use to grow...oranges ? Why was it left aside (either in the study or the article, can't say )?Oh yeah, most people don't give a shit about the cleanliness of the water they get, they're happy when they find some. Sigh.

It never seizes to amaze me how many studies there are out there being conducted by complete turd for brains douchebags. Studies to study the study of studies and how those studies are actually studied. Conduct a study and have some University back you on it and you can study whatever the hell you want. For instance, The Journal of Youth and Adolescence were apparently conducting a study that focused on gaming and internet use among college undergrads. And guess what they found out. That college males play violent games and look at porn online. Hmmm, fascinating stuff! I would have never guessed such things were going on. So, you are telling me that guys in their early 20s like blood and guts and gore in their games and titties in their faces while surfing the net? I never had a clue.Whats next? You gonna tell me that girls like to shop and teenage kids like to hang out in malls? Im still waiting for the study that tells me that college kids drink alcohol. Until there is a study done, I wont believe it.

the gleaners

Most artists have those paintings in their mental library that signify the moment the first heard of it... not actually see the work. Living in the expanse of the desert southwest, I knew I was lucky to see Picasso "Le Reve"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Le-reve-1932.jpgbefore the owner stumbled and lost a much-loved personal treasure by putting his elbow through it.I remember the first time I heard the title, "The Gleaners".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_GleanersThe idea of nothing that offers nourishment to one's creative existence is going to waste, is the answer to the question, "What do the arts really bring to life - why should * ∫ ¡ i ! * support the arts?" Artists are naturally born gleaners. Taking what is, and always will be, already there... this is an graphic artist's stock and trade. A teacher once said "there will always be someone who will say, "I could have done that first..." Here's the truth, you didn't. There is nothing new... only the point-of-reference that led to the visual solution. The four-color point of reference choice can be found in Russian Constructivist, Alexander Rodchenko.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1915_Dance_by_Rodchenko.jpg

The AP could have done the real work of giving a good creative a job. Instantly recognizing the intrinsic value in the work created as a social commentator on the weight of the images chosen to dialogue his small place in the great expanse. As a graphic designer, Fairey is faced with the constant problem of how to take an existing image in the public domain and add his voice to the image interpretation. He gleaned... found a lost AP photo of Barrack Obama.from the wikipage:The artwork is based on a copyrighted photograph taken in April 2006 by Mannie Garcia while on assignment for the Associated Press. Fairey feels his use of it falls within the legal definition of fair use. Lawyers for both sides are currently in discussions seeking an amicable agreement.[29]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shepard_Fairey

- and collaged and colored HIS reality, not the AP's, into the image. The AP hired Mannie Garcia to take a photo of a public individual. As a creative graphic designer, Fairey left nothing to waste when his used four colors to explain his interpretation of the photo.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Obamaposter.jpgThe lie the AP wants you to believe is because he used the image that was long in the public domain, they should get the credit. No one is disputing the eye that caught the image... the national gallery still shows Mannie Garcia's AP compensated photo... it's just designed by Shepard Fairey. Andy Warhol came to the conclusion he would have to take his own images if he wanted complete artistic control of his work. Fairey may have to come to the same solution if he wants the AP's hand out of his pocket. The reality is, AP would never hire someone like Fairey as an in-house graphic designer... though they might wanna rethink that position. The truth is the AP - and industries struggling under the yoke of debt and (hopeful) recovery - should have hired someone like him and too many talented others working without a net... to design their stuff. The fact is they can't be troubled to pay Fairey and so many others; what they are WORTH as a gleaner.
