I went for a walk (pictures still to come) and took a test panorama. It's not a particularly inspiring scene, to be honest, but the pano program (http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html) worked well enough. Annoyingly Flickr's "original size" photo is much smaller than the one I uploaded so you can't mawe out all the details.
