the obvious question?

so now that all of those who didn't get tickets have vented about ticketmaster and/or the pre-sale, it's time to move on to the next stage of grieving (denial?), and see if there's anyway we can get tickets without supporting scalpers or creepy people on craigslist (wolves at the door).

last night's appearance on colbert made it seem even more critical to make it to one of the shows, so if anyone has any ideas, or better yet any extras, please feel free to talk about it here...!

Roseland Debacle

So the six of us, all seasoned ticketmaster fools, login at exactly 10am from six different ip's and all come up short... same thing happened for presale and now I look with utter disgust at $500 tickets on craigslist. I hate to blame the band other than the reality that their sparse tour activity in the past two years has created incredible demand, but if they charged $250 for the tix and donated a GOOD SHARE  to charity, I would have no problem paying up..Such a shame the band and the fans are getting cheated on this deal.

Radiohead on SNL right now!

Who's watching?! I am!

Update:

In case you missed it...

"Lotus Flower"

"Staircase"

Great performance overall. Especially on "Staircase", which I'm surprised they played. I thought they would have played "The Daily Mail" or "Bloom". Their decision to played "Staircase", a track outside the album,  really surprised me. Nonetheless, great show. Just wished they would have played more than TWO songs.

Radiohead star sings theatre's praises By Damian Fantato

11010902064?profile=original

THE drummer in the city’s global rock success story Radiohead has told of the importance of East Oxford’s Pegasus Theatre.

Phil Selway explained why he has devoted so much time to the Magdalen Road theatre and kickstarted a new music course for youngsters.

Mr Selway visited some of the teenagers learning about music on Monday. It is the second year of the course, which he has financially supported from the outset.

He said: “It is just a wonderful organisation. Pegasus Theatre is at the heart of the community.

“I have got some very strong roots in Oxford and I was very lucky because my school had very good arts facilities.

“I know people who have been involved here and have had a good career in the arts.”

The 44-year-old, who lives in west Oxfordshire, helped mastermind the course, which allows 12- to 19-year-olds to learn how to put music together with lyrics and create soundtracks.

It is hoped the students will be able to put together the music for the theatre’s performances.

Mr Selway will also be putting on a series of fundraising concerts at the theatre next month, where he will play tracks from his recent solo album.

He said: “It is lovely watching these children’s development. It is fantastic to see quite what they take away from it.

“Pegasus offers all these opportunities for very professional training in drama and dance and it is open to all.”

Mr Selway will soon be embarking on a joint project between Pegasus Theatre and the Samaritans charity, where he used to volunteer.

The ‘Listeners’ project will involve a performance piece which would be shown in March next year.

He said: “Pegasus is very close to my heart and hopefully I can bring it together with the Samaritans.”

Dominique Cadiou, Pegasus Theatre’s development director, said: “It means an enormous amount to us that Phil gives his time and money to Pegasus.

“He comes here quite regularly to see shows, but he is not intrusive.”

Next year, Mr Selway will be putting the finishing touches to another solo album. His previous effort Familial was released earlier this year.

He said: “It is all half-written at the moment. I do not know what it will sound like. I will see what happens when I start to record it.

“This very intimate mood was very much what most suited the songs in Familial.”

Radiohead to join Wall Street protest?

In case you haven't heard... a growing live-in protest called "Occupy Wall Street" is going on in the financial district of New York City right now. The protest, set up by internet hacking group Anonymous and anti-consumerist magazine Adbuster, is against corporate greed favoring the rich at the expense of ordinary people. The protest began Saturday when several thousand people gathered in front of the New York Stock Exchange holding signs saying "We must end corporate tyranny and corruption" and "Debt is slavery." The protest is entering its fifth day, and supporters are vowing to stay for months if they need to.

The reason I bring this up here is because I'm speculating that perhaps Radiohead, with it's liberal, free-thinking, anti-corporate views, might join in. They are after all about to embark in a New York "tour" this week starting with SNL on Saturday, The Corbert Report on Monday, and two Roseland Ballroom concerts next Wednesday and Thursday.

I think it possible that they'll join in on the protest. They are, after all, known to arrive unexpected to places. What do you think?

Here's the livestream of the protest:
