Procrastination is my anti drug.Woke up at 12:30, well past the end of McDonald's breakfast menu. Sadness. Got a bagel instead from that internet cafe next to the realtor's office.uhhhwent to work??? The thing I love about Tom Waits is how putting his discography on shuffle for an hour will guarantee an intentional-sounding mix. That guy is a genius. He needs to play in California again, God dammit.Got some CHINESE FOOD after work and went home. Tropic Thunder looks funny. Went to study but wound up drawing and going to Amoeba instead. Read through a facebook flame war among my friends from back home that has escalated beyond the realm of pointlessness. Wrote all this in order to not study.I came up with a list of "reasons to believe" in Eshelmen and here it is:Tom Waits albumsPalm trees silhouetted by sunsetsThe insights of crazy people on busesWhen people get embarrassed because someone heard them singingBreastsThe E Street BandTrue DailiesHandwritten lettersDrawing comicsExposed thighsI like that line from Clueless: "Sometimes you have to show a little skin. This reminds boys of being naked, and then they think of sex." Summer is killing me.WOW I was about to go into an emo rant. I can't believe that. Definitely no more blogging. Life is too short and too beautiful.

I am seeing Radiohead 3 weeks from today. Though this will only be special to some of you but, I will also be in mutha fucking Ireland of all places! It makes me cry. Seriously. It is so much some times, it is hard to contain. I know it’s chicky but this is honestly a dream come true. "How to Disappear Completely" is my favorite song by Radiohead (most days) and before the show I am going to float down the River Liffey that the band mentions in the same fucking song. I am going to crank the best song ever as we float down the river and then I am going to go see the band that nobody I know is more geeked out on, except possibly FFJ (Franklin - Charlotte show - look him up ladies, hot, hot, hot). But, I honestly think I am more geeked than he is. He would not have an opinion if you asked because he knows the truth! LOLAnd knowing Radiohead, as I do, they won't fucking play the song either. But, I still have 4 more shows after Ireland, so I will hear it. And, I've seen it live before anyway. I can't brag about a lot in my life but I got Radiohead as a back-up if I need it.You guys know I have pit tickets in San Diego, right? Just making sure everyone knows. I worked my ass off for this tour and deserve it. I have pimped this band like no other. I have schooled more kids on it and will keep doing it regardless if they want to be schooled or not. It is like my duty to the world. I've earned my Ph.D. in Radiohead. And 'in rainbows' and this tour is like a thank you to us uberfans who stuck through the tough times and, of course, are smart enough to know why the times had to happen and why the music was going to be worth the wait.Thank God football seasons starts in the beginning of September cause after August who knows when we'll see this band again! It is a gamble being a Radiohead fan. It really is. I'll always bet on them though. So, you guys are picking up what I am laying down right? I like Radiohead a little bit.I saw my family today. I saw them drive away like I don't exist. I could never treat my child like a leper. It's sickening. I sang "How to Disappear Completely" right then in my head. If you don't know the song, there is a video on my page (www.myspace.com/goodtimejen)."That there, that's not me. I go, where I please. I walk through walls. I float down the Liffey.I'm not here. This isn't happening. I'm not here. I'm not here."And, I haven't even started to talk about the music behind it all. But no word in that song compares to Thom's voice at the end. That is anguish and absolute beauty combined. What a gift to the world! Who else can do that? Who else could pull that off? Listen to the song, learn it, and try to sing it yourself if that is the only way to prove my point.Just listened to it again - crying. There's been so much sadness in my life. It has been so dark. It’s the "completely" in the song that is hard to do.I am happy and sad at the same time right now. Sorry. I had to do the right thing today with something even though the right thing to do sucked hairy balls. I hate being good. I wish I could be as bad as people think I am. I actually care about people. It sucks. It always ends up drivel. - Yes, that's from a Radiohead song - Let Down off Ok Computer if you were searching your brain.Jen

When I don't play to Anarchy Online, I read.Last books that I'm reading are;Chuck Palahniuk; 'A l'estomac' & the anthology of Pierre Desproges called; 'Tout Desproges'.I don't talk about Chuck Palahniuk because he's too famous.Pierre Desproges is only famous in countries where French is speaking. Both are ironical, mysanthropic, extremely well documanted but Pierre Desproges is more funny of course.http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net/http://www.desproges.fr/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Desproges

Commiserations to Cardiff and their supporters as the team valiantly played to a runner's up position in the F.A. Cup Final. The team played well in the first half, but went a goal behind with Kanu scoring after 37mins. They were outplayed in the second half by Portsmouth, with Cardiff fighting to the end. The Welsh team could not, however, find that elusive goal that could force extra time and the score stood at 0-1 to Portsmouth. It was the most watchable Cup Final for a very long time and certainly will give the big clubs a bit of a reminder that the Cup Final is not theirs by right; they have to work for it!

From a week on: Reflections about the Radiohead concert. The stage setup took on a mystical nature while the music being played before Liars was loudly making its rounds through the pavillion. A small location somewhere on Earth but several people from across the ocean had brought such a large amount of material and instruments (the instruments being visible to the side of the stage for a while) and how the performance would pan out was a complete unknown at the time. The intro music for Radiohead is fantastic. It is summery and watery, but where exactly it came from is unknown so far this month. The coming on music has been something other than Radiohead before, but this sounds like Radiohead...The performance of Videotape which had Phil and Jonny on drums was quite an accomplishment! I haven't heard all live bands, in fact only a sliver of all bands past and present, but it's put together as a golem (A manmade giant imagined by people of Eurasia) in but a few seconds and towers over the audience. Not many people who have walked the earth could put together "Videotape" live other than Radiohead and their concert teams...Bangers and Mash .... I only realize now at this very minute, was a bit of a tip of the hat to Liars, the drumsets both churning. The first Liars' song that night started with two Liars on drum sets as well ; )I suppose Radiohead have done that before, even back to OK Computer, but the songs did in fact meet eachother halfway, in a way. With regards to the future Radiohead concerts, Up on the Ladder live is going to be, if it happens, is going to be a huge and ghostly giant as well....

"We can solve the climate crisis" organization http://www.wecansolveit.org/ has collected a total of 136,000 signatures to place polar bears on the Endangered Species List in just one week!!! I signed it and I got this e-mail minute ago:"Earlier this week, the Secretary of the Interior placed the polar bear on the Endangered Species List as a threatened species. More than 136,000 We members like you helped make that happen by signing our petition asking the Secretary to take action on this issue. What's even more amazing is that all this happened in just a week. The listing is clearly a step in the right direction. Much more needs to be done -- to save the polar bear and solve the climate crisis. Much more. But when these positive steps do occur, we should acknowledge the work that we've done together. And we should set our sights on more and bigger successes.So...again, thank you!Sincerely,Cathy ZoiCEOwww.wecansolveit.org"

I'm not a huge fan of the Stones, and went to see the movie with no great expectations... though, I have to say that it was excellent!you can see that these guys went through a crazy career - they're so good on stage, and what I liked the most is to see their pleasure of playing music, and the complicity between them.was a nice moment, and I highly recommend it!

hello, my lovely, w-a-s-t-e-rsbeen keeping a low profile since the cat tried to have me whacked. the problem with the open university is that it best suits motivated, mature hard-working types who can hold down a full-time job and study hard. that'll be me fucked, then...so, between drinking, crying and occasional study, work at the death star has taken up pretty much the rest of my time. yuck.oh! that reminds me!regular readers (who now amount to maybe several! whoop!) will be aware of my weirdo love colleagues. pass me the sick bucket while we wait for the newcomers to check out.seriously, go on. i'll wait...anyway, i was walking back from the loo last week when one of the lovers (who had never said a word to me up to the point) came up to me and grabbed my crotch, uttering the immortal words;"i'm hannah, and i want you to get in the disabled toilet with me!"what can i say? obviously, those of you who've checked out my photos will know i'm scotland's answer to denzel washington, but wtf??? as the best british tabloid reporters are wont to say, i made my excuses and left."hannah" (if that is even her real name...) then carried on as normal for the rest of the shift, playing at lover-girl with her boyfriend. except, every time she stroked his hair, she'd look over his shoulder at me and wink, or blow kisses. fucking psycho. the disabled toilets!what if a disabled person had needed to use them? oh, the humanity!not much else has happened. just came back from a friend's house. she's a qualified masseuse and gives me the whole aromatherapy / holistic job once a month. i've been having back and rib (the cat, again) trouble, so she was pummeling away at my left-sided sciatic nerve when i was overcome with the desire to break wind.look, i really didn't want to mention farting but, you know where this is going...ever the gentleman, i endured real pain holding in the wind. by this time, my stomach was making sounds like a coffee percolator; blubplup, blubplup, whisssssh. you get the picture. anyway, my mate was all;"you seem very tense, i'll just apply some pressure here..."you can probably guess what happened next. if you've ever heard an ocean liner, you'll know for certain. i swear, the curtains at the other end of the room billowed for about a minute and my friend made a face like kenneth williams in "carry on doctor"you know the face - "ooooohhhh, matron! take it away"let's just say, it's a good thing she's into essential oil burners and candles. hope it's dissipated before next month's appointment.why am i revealing such horrific details to you all? that's the real issue on my mind right now.it's because i love you all. each and every one.much love, steve x.

Totally surprised the wife with a trip downtown to see Swell Season. These are the folks from the movie"Once".They also received an Oscar at this years Academy Awards for best song.We started out the night at Pooles Diner, which is a spin-off of Enoteca Vin.Ashley Christianson is owner chef. The food was very good especially the Buttermilk Fried Shrimp w/ Local Frise on Sunburst Tomatoes. An Arugula Salad w/ Grapefruit Avocado and a light and creamy Buttermilk Dressing followed.i had Pan Roasted Poisson & Mashed Potatoes while Lorrie had Seared Halibut w/ Tomato Jus.LiCIOUS!!!The show started promptly at 9pm with Glen Taking the stage solo and doing an acoustic number all while testing out the halls acoustics.(Best Place in NC to see a live show)Marketa joined him for the next number and they ran through a bunch of songs off there debut album as well as the movie. They did cover a Pixiessong which I did not know. There tour manager came out and played a Steve Earl song, which was fantastic. The evening came to an end with a Van Morrison cover and won last Swell Season song. They were backed all night by three members of Glens main band The Frames. All in all a very good Irish type of night!
