I have to say I am a bit disappointed because I have seen better Radiohead shows in the past. Don’t get me wrong, they were Amazing but there were a lot of great songs left out and I think they could have played them instead of some other songs, such as “You and whose army”. Frankly, I’m getting tired of Thom doing that song with his whole face in front of the camera! I think I’ve seen that like 4 times already. Also, I think they should have either opened or closed the show with a BANG!. “All I need" is a nice song but not a show opener. In the past they opened with great up beat song such as “There there”, “National Anthem” and “Lucky”. It just gets people in the mood!It was however awesome to hear “Airbag”, “Optimistic” and “Planet telex” again. It’s been a long time since they played those song live.Overall, great show but it left me wanting more. Maybe I’m just spoiled by going to their back to back concerts… I might have to try to catch another of their shows this year. It sucks, cause I don’t have the money for it! Not this year anyway =(

Radiohead in Ireland

I have to find someone to bring with me to Ireland for the June 6th show. The person that was going with me, is simply, a tool. Please let me know if you are interested as I can make a change to his ticket but not get my money back. I have a 2 bedroom suite at Clontarf and would be willing to discuss sharing the suite. I am going to float down the Liffey, like I deserve!I also have 3 extra San Diego tickets - 2 together, 1 single (none on the lawn) - I traded my Santa Barbara tickets for San Diego pit tickets and then went and bought more Santa Barbara tickets for more. Oh, I have made so many deals and buys and sells and rebuys! I wonder if Radiohead is having as much trouble with this tour as I am.It was all so much easier before OK Computer. I remember buying tickets back in the day, like it was nothing. Now, I am sweating before the tickets are even on sale, with nerves!I hope everyone is having fun out there. I met my x-boyfriend in Charlotte but he didn't bother to tell me he was bringing along his "spouse", my other x-boyfriend from high school. Very, very odd night! Then I just drove to VA. I love the madness of Radiohead! It gives me something to do when it is not football season!I wanted to take Franklin from the NC show to Ireland so badly. Look him up. Cutie! Really smart. You girls would like him and boy does he like girls. He'll be a catch for someone out there. I am just too old and too tired to battle him. But, if you have energy, boy howdy! Just get him out of SC before it swallows him whole!I still can't believe I have extra tickets to Radiohead and an extra plane ticket to Ireland. Not right!Jen

Oh doodz, I'm back :D

Well, the extent of my showgowing is over, so... bye wastegay. *trotters off* Kidding, geez. Ohhhh... so, well, the show was fantastic. Crap, what else can I say? They had pretty lights? They did, if you're interested in knowing that sort of thing. Ohhh man oh man, what else? Briefly met really dizzy and Tea on Neptune after the show, which was really neat... it's nice to put faces to names ;)The rest of the trip was nothing short of amazing. Minus is one hell of a guy! I'm still recovering, really.... my sides hurt from so much laughter (I wouldn't be surprised if I even laughed in my sleep), face hurts from so much smiling, brain hurts from so much new information to process. Ahhhhh... must be finding another flight back sometime soon! *swoons*And now my cat is biting my nose again, so I'm going to piss off and give her all the attention she craves.

Thunderstorm and moon in charlotte

Last night, Radiohead in North Carolina. Around both times when Liars and Radiohead were expected to come on stage by the crowd, a large thunderstorm rolled by to what seemed like the north of the amphitheatre. The thunderstorm was right off to the north, and during There There, the second song, there were a few streaks of lightning. During Nude a few songs later, the thunderstorm had moved to Northeast of the amphitheatre but from where I was seated it was visible to the left of the stage. The clouds flashed kind of an amber color several times during Nude which was, unspeakably awesome, given how weird and religious (sounds like a hymn) the song can be... and was...While the band was offstage I turned around and noticed that the crescent moon had become visible West of the amphitheatre by turning around and looking over the lawn. It was a honey-colored thing. Radiohead came back on stage to play the song Go Slowly, written with other In Rainbows songs but given the breathing room of the compilation disc that was sent to people who wished to have the complete set of main album and all other recorded songs. At the end of the song, which is quite mythic with Thom singing this very plaintive melody, the crescent moon began to be covered up by a cloud, and eventually cast the honey-colored light over the edge of the cloud. As the band played House of Cards, the crescent moon was back from behind a cloud but was hazy in appearance. It suited the song , it's just the kind of thing that makes outdoor concerts better than indoor ; )The best thing occured during Reckoner (the last song). The thunderstorm to the northeast was visible still. During this song the stormcloud flashed, far away from where we all were but still quite visible, as often as the lights in the amphitheatre. Just as during Nude, having lightning flashing all throughout the song was very unexpected and remarkable. During Reckoner a few actual bolts of lightning, cloud to cloud, were visible, one being during the part with "dedicated to all. human beings".

Radiohead and Liars #1

A short reflection with more to follow.Radiohead's opening with All i need surely was unexpected, and for the first few songs the microphone used by Thom was turned up quite nicely and you could hear a lot of detail in the voice. This happened a lot during the show. "people have been talking", Thom's vocal performances have been great lately. Sail to the moon and airbag of course. There there, of course! During the concert there were stunning pairings of songs which I'm sure lots of people were aware of and inspired by in the audience.... after Idioteque, Morning Bell was played, sending shockwaves through the audience! That sort of thing always gets us, to pair songs together like on the album. ; ) Back in the day I read and it looked like they used to pair Climbing up the walls and No Surprises which must have been just as good. Then the thunderous performance of Where I End and You Begin was followed, really quickly, by its twin, that being Optimistic as they have a similar idea explored in each, in the lyrics anyway! The overhead lights, which used really vibrant colors, flashed huge and red through Optimistic. ....More later.

Liars set was great. I brought field glasses and used them to observe their musicianship more closely than I could squint my eyes. Several songs I knew, three or four by name, but some I didn't. One song used a drum machine or drum programmer of some kind with fantastic sounds used within it. The drumset was exciting to hear, turned up very loud, but when scoping out the drummer the slightly muddied rumble made more sense as I could connect what drum he struck with the sound that spat through the amphitheatre. The Tibetian or Indian songs played before Liars and after Radiohead were really really exciting. They were clear, obviously not from an mp3 player ; ) .... Hopefully like a few years ago someone will post on Dead Air Space explaining what those were and where to find them.

The mystery has been solved. A month or so before this tour I had read that the lighting design for this year's show was something very remarkable. I remember reading, 2 years ago actually about many people tossing glow sticks to Radiohead onstage during the Bonnaroo summertime festival. Until last night's show was over I could not completely work out what these large light-curtains which framed the stage looked like, exactly. The answer came on the way home --- they looked like extra-large glow sticks or glow wands! I remember apparently the glow sticks coming on stage for Radiohead was some sort of a pivotal moment in the 2006 tour when they sort of regained their confidence.Whether the beautiful and unexpected light tubes on stage were inspired by that or simply coincidentally similar we will never know....I had been seeing these things in the videos on the front page from which I did in fact shield my eyes to avoid knowing what was in the photo. It was worth being in the dark about these things! Much more to come....

Prepare the transit beam

So, I'm working on this theory. It involves the following:

Brian Eno (center, gold trousers) with Roxy Music, circa 1973.

Riff Raff (left), with Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The Rocky Horror Picture Show, 1975.

Brian Eno.

Riff Raff. The manuscript should be ready by next year. Any questions?
