Dear Radiohead,

Not sure if you pay any attention to the postings here on W.A.S.T.E., but if you are, you will surely notice how burned so many of your REAL fans feel after some of the the agonizing ticket sale fiascos of the past few weeks. Getting to know some of these folks by their W.A.S.T.E. postings (which means they are true and engaged fans), it has been heartbreaking to feel their disappointment at not having any REAL shot at buying tickets to see you guys in the Southern California area; up all night to dutifully try the pre-sales, logging on at the exact time to try the on-sales, etc, being told SECONDS after logging on that you're SOL pal. Then minutes afterward, seeing tickets popping up on scalper sites, craigslist, etc. for many hundreds and even thousands of dollars. Really!!! What gives?

I know that this is not what you guys are really about. These fans in particular, are the ones who really love your music. They're not the people who got all worked up about you when you got really popular from The Bends and OK Computer because you were the hot shit flavor of the moment, then slammed you for being all "weird" with Kid A, etc. (remember?: "where are the guitars!!!?"), or even the idiots who said "King of Limbs... It's so short!" (imagine... morons). No... they are the core fans who are really down for the twisting, turning wild musical journey that you guys are on (that WE are on too), no matter where that takes us all. They are the ones really listening to the music, and not there for the "scene".

But the truth is, for better or worse, your  preeminent musical vision has made you cultural "icons" as such, and therefore- there's all the bullshit that comes along with that. The scene-sters want to flock to you, and will pay anything to bask in your aura, and the opportunists, who recognize the deep passion of your true fans, seek to exploit that by re-selling them the "lucky" chance to participate in the musical journey (for mucho $$$$). You guys are great, but you're no Bieber! Meaning: as great as you are, most of the pop "mainstream" is still "Radio-who???" The intense demand for your tickets is not driven by mass pop hysteria, but mostly by deeply passionate music-heads. And unfortunately, passion like this is easily taken advantage of.

It is time to realize that you guys are both the creators AND the beneficiaries of a very unique, wonderful, and hopefully long lasting musical juggernaut, and that, again- for better or worse, this means you have to do things a little differently. I think you realized this when you revolutionized the joint with the way you got In Rainbows out there. Now, it seems time to take an equally revolutionary tack with the way your concert tickets are sold. The truly faithful need (and deserve) to have a clearer path to getting tickets for your shows. Please reference the way the Grateful Dead used to sell tickets to their shows: the GREATER percentage of their tickets (sometimes ALL the tickets for a show), were sold only through their fan club, via mail, and it was a true and fair lottery. Maybe you guys could come up with an approach which is as new, cool, and fresh as your music is! I know you can do it. If the Dead could do it for their Dead-Heads, you can do something right by your Head-Heads. And we Head-Heads hope there will be many many more years of wonderful music from you all for us to support, and that we will get a fair chance to be part of the ride. Thanks for listening.

Sincerely, Mad Johnny

LA Tickets Gone

I logged into the AXS "waiting room" at 9:30 and waited until 10:30 and then it said "It's your turn!"  I was like WHAT YES!  I selected 2 tickets and then it said "No result found".  AAARGGHHHH.

The best laid plans...

Searching....sit tight

That's the message from ticketmaster (in 3 separate windows) since 10:00 a.m.

No luck getting a single ticket for one of the NYC shows.  Apparently the scalpers haven't had this experience.  True fans can't buy a single seat from the venue, but there are plenty of options available on the secondary market.

There's got to be a better way.

Total bullshit

I had seats for one of the LA shows. I got an error message when I tried to purchase them. The axs website couldnt handle the high volume. I'm beyond pissed.

Scalpers rejoice!

how can a band that is always ahead of the curve, always changing the way they do business and thus the way others do business, not change the way the sell tickets? IN RAINBOWS changing the way music was announced and distributed and purchased and priced. but the tour was through Ticketmaster and the scalpers made a fortune. TKOL was basically the same premise as IN RAINBOWS but more refined and minus the name your own price (cuz they're not in it for the money!) again tour through Ticketmaster and scalpers rejoice again. now untitled #9 is apparently heading this way, surprise announcement, weird way to purchase (bandcamp bittorrent newspaper edition? get real dudes) and set price (learned from IN RAINBOWS) AND GUESS WHO GOT THE TOUR!? TICKETMASTER. now the scalpers have already made more then RADIOHEAD has made. and guess what, once the album is out and the proper tour announced, scalpers get round 2! So again i ask how can a band that is so influential in all their undertakings still be doing business with Ticketmaster who basically is a place to create a secondary market designed to specifically hurt fans?

Dear Anyone who knows about the ticket details for the shows Oct. 3/4 in Mexico City. I was fortunate enough to of bought 2 tickets from Ticketmaster Mexico yesterday (Wednesday) right at 11am when the tickets went on sale. The question I have is my tickets are on the floor in section G7 seats 1 & 2. So that seems pretty clear right? However, when you call up the map of the Palacio de Sportivo for that event, the floor is only a green circle, no sections, or rows, or breakdown of any kind indicating where exactly my seats are. I'm encouraged in thinking that I have actual seats in the 7th row, seats 1&2, but that's an optimistic point of view. To test that optimism, I went to another event there (Adele) and looked at that seating chart, and for that show there are rows of seats in sections on the floor, like you'd expect to find. My question to anyone knowledgeable on this subject is, did I buy tickets that are general admission, with no seats, and a free for all, or are these reserved seats that I can count on being there for us? I even looked at the ticket broker sites for the Mexico city shows, and they list seats for (of course) big money, but show no seats details. So I'm confused about what I bought. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy that I have the tickets I have, since I got into the page to buy tickets immediately after they went on sale....but where are they exactly? Any illumination on this would be appreciated. Thanks/Gracias, Scott Mason

Why such a small venue in LA?

I'm really disappointed that they are playing such a small venue in LA.   The Shrine Auditorium only holds 6300 people, while in NYC they are playing the much larger Madison Square Garden.  It would be one thing if they also played San Francisco, San Diego, and Santa Barbara like they have done in the past.  As a long time fan I feel let down...At least add more dates to the Shrine dates guys!
