Many Thanks

Last week my youngest was sick. The only time she wasn't crying was if I was holding her and slow dancing. We danced to there there, lucky, all i need, ect... for several hours. So today I will offer my thanks to Radiohead for the music,my thanks to my wonderful family, and the higher power for the wonderful world. I have much to be thankful for. I offer up a prayer for all others, those in India and around the world, my hope is for everyone to have something to be thankful for.

Today and everyday I am grateful for good health, family, friends, home, a beautiful day, vision to see it and creativity to interpret what is fleeting for us all. I choose to remember the sound of love and peace that measures the weight of all beings on the silence of the ether. Love deserves a name... today I will call it the sound a tree makes when a knot hole reminder is collected from the pause of a forest trail path and placed in a hiker's pocket. Before the journey continues on, after the evening light curves round the shadowed footprints.

I hate having to work....

I've got all this other stuff to do. At times I wish I still smoked, cause then I wouldn't get as hungry as I do. Or I guess I wouldn't notice it that much. And also the 5 minutes or so it takes to smoke is a nice break. But I just can't do it anymore. I totally want to just have it be like I never smoked at all. OK I'm done about talking about smoking. So I've been playing a lot of Animal Crossing and that has been a lot of fun and relief during the start of the holidays. It's nice to keep myself busy on my days off by playing that game. Maybe that's why I don't have any time. I might be playing the game to much.Damn holidays, it' will make work actually pick up and I might actually have to do overtime. There hasn't been OT since this last March or so. But the money is much needed right now, and I will do as much as I can if it is offerred. I'll be talking to a bunch of upset consumers saying "you ruined my kids Christmas!" and "let me speak to your supervisor!" and "why doesn't the game read in my system" (because the game is in WRONG!)....But in these troubled times, in the US, it's a good feeling that I at least have a job. And reflecting on the holiday of Thanksgiving I'm thankful for having a job. But Thanksgiving is a joke anyways...really we should remember how the colonists ruined this fine land we call America and spread disease to the natives. But at least we get Turkey! (god, i'm really sick and twisted...I won't write what I was thinking next....)

Inocencia Maldita

Need to Jot it Down.

Could be inspired. Could be emotionally impacted. Could be not wanting to lose a moment. Could be for reminding the future-me. Could be facts or fiction. Could be happy or sad. Could be frustrated or desperate/ Instead of gettting too indulged in my own thoughts, they should be channelled somewhere else.

School of life

October 3rd was officially my first day of work as a pharmacist. Good bye spare time! But still, I realize now what a road it has been. And that it will be.I know I'm always ranting about the same things, but things didn't change that much, in the end. It will always be a fight to deserve confidence, a fight to have credibility, a fight to not get lost in the new knowledge, to stay up to date and competent. A fight to get some spare time too, because music, family and friends are necessary for my equilibrium. It seems that society and the health system care less than me about these things right now, but I'll always fight to keep that right. I love to help people, to relieve the grief when it's possible, but as a human I must listen to my own limitations. Well! Just a few thoughts I have had since a few weeks... In order to help, the helper must keep an equilibrium, or he will need help as well.Take care of yourselves, you only have one self,Noli :-)

This piece of information is a bit old, but still...Police vet live music, DJs for 'terror risk'Locking down garage...and RnB, basementBy Andrew OrlowskiPosted in Policing, 11th November 2008 15:43 GMTA dozen London boroughs have implemented a "risk assessment" policy for live music that permits the police to ban any live music if they fail to receive personal details from the performers 14 days in advance. The demand explicitly singles out performances and musical styles favoured by the black community: garage and R&B, and MCs and DJs.However all musical performances - from one man playing a guitar on up - are subject to the demands once implemented by the council. And the threat is serious: failure to comply "may jeopardise future events by the promoter or the venue".UK Music chief Feargal Sharkey told a House of Commons select committee that the policy had already been used to pull the plug on an afternoon charity concert of school bands in a public park organised by a local councillor."No alcohol would be sold, tickets were limited to three maximum, and the councillor offered to supply eight registered doormen. Police objected on the grounds that the names, addresses and dates of birth of the young performer could not be provided," said Sharkey, speaking to the Department of Culture Media and Sport's hearing on venue licensing today."Live music is now a threat to the prevention of terrorism", he concluded. In response, Detective Superintendent Dave Eyles from the Met's clubs and vice office told us that 10,000 such Risk Assessments would be processed this year. He said they weren't compulsory:"We can't demand it - we recommend that you provide it as best practice. But you're bloody silly if you don't, because you're putting your venue at risk."The Risk Assessment, or to give its official name "Form 696" can be found here (Word doc 184kb or Google HTML cache). We've highlighted a couple of excerpts below.Black urban musical styles are singled outBashment Jaxx? Black urban musical styles are singled outLicensing of live music is nominally under the democratic control of local authorities. However, few councillors dare contradict the advice of the constabulary - even when such advice exceeds the police's authority, as it does here.John Whittingdale, the Culture select committee chairman, described it as "a consequence of the Metropolitan Poice exceeding what is required by law".The police want information 14 days in advance to assess the risk of a terror threat'Propensity to violence'"Have a look at the papers and tell me where the black-on-black shootings happen? They're around the night time economy," said Eyles."Music promotions attract people who have a propensity to use violence. That's not speculation. We have a duty to prevent that from happening."But even if that's true, why vet then the performers? Unless the performers attack the audience, Sid Vicious-style in the fictional Great Rock and Roll Swindle?"We're not vetting the performers - we're looking at the audience. It's not the music it's the people who follow it, who use that event as a catalyst to commit crimes. But, Form 696 explictly vets the performers. We read it out."Some venues use their inhouse DJs all the time - others fly them in from around the world. It's not just their track record in the UK we're looking at but we're looking worldwide - what has happened historically at those events".With the police groaning under bureaucracy, was 10,000 extra forms really justified?"We can effectively look at those venues and say by putting in some measures as a last resort, canceling the event, we can prevent crime."But didn't Sharkey's example - a kids concert in the park - suggest that the system was being abused?"I would doubt that's factually correct," said Eyles. "I've never known an event to be cancelled because a Risk Assessment wasn't completed. If we went to the organisers and asked them to pull it, we would be laughed out of court. I cannot believe that would happen. In itself, it's not grounds to shut an event down."Readers can browse 696 and judge for themselves. ®
