Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009) R.I.P.From Los Angeles Times:[Updated at 3:15 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.][Updated at 2:46 p.m.: Jackson is in a coma and his family is arriving at his bedside, a law enforcement source told The Times.Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.[Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson had rented the Bel-Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater. The home is about 2 1/2 miles, about a six-minute drive, from UCLA Medical Center. An earlier version of this post incorrectly described the time to travel between the home and hospital as two minutes.]The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges. In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel-Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage. His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.—Andrew Blankstein and Phil Willon

The Torturous Wait

Every time the head turns something new is foundEach speck weighs heavily, infinitely more than the lastImmobilized by the lack of thought or wondermentNumbness begins in body and culminates in a foggy mindSuffocation under the thought that there is nothing elseYanked out of grasp yet slammed on the shouldersThe weight is cumbersome, yet born gladlyAll that can be done is doneTime tells all, yet does not always healRelaxing is not an option and trying highlights the failure to do soIt will come to an end soon enough

Domingo

Emergency Appeal to Defend Pain Patient Rights

Dear Radiohead Friends,Sorry to bother you with an issue that may not be of interest to you and possibly considered too personal; but this is an issue that will affect millions in The States and of course my wife and I very deeply. I think it would even be appropriate for folks from the UK, Canada and elsewhere respond to this if you can find the time to send a short message to register disgust with a country that would consider such a horrible policy. Here is an extremely important call for immediate action from the American Pain Foundation dated June 9th._______________________________________________________________________________________It says in part:URGENT CALL TO ACTION!The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) may remove important pain medications from the market or could very likely limit access to certain pain medications that are currently legally prescribed to millions of Americans suffering from pain. The FDA needs to hear how vital access to these medications is to people with pain and what tragic results could occur if they were denied access to these medications or if additional barriers were created making access more difficult for people who are legally prescribed these medications.ACTION REQUESTEDSend a letter to the FDA sharing your story about how their decisions would impact you or your loved one. The FDA MUST receive your letters by Tuesday, June 30th, so don’t delay. The pertinent addresses are at the sitehttp://action.painfoundation.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=9981.0&printer_friendly=1.The APF statement and sample testimony is also given. The Entire CALL TO ACTION IS AT : http://www.painfoundation.org/ _____________________________________________________________________________________Needless to say if they limit, temporarily or permanently ban such pain medications it will extremely limit activity level and quality of life for millions of chronic pain sufferers like my wife Carol and myself. It could very likely result in the deaths of tens of thousands of people who can nor longer live with the pain and limitation of their lives. Please write a short note if possible to send to the FDA hearings at the addresses listed in the APF CALL TO ACTION and point out chronic pain sufferers should not have to pay for those who choose to abuse useful and essential pain medication. Chronic pain patients will either have to deal with being totally incapacitated, get pain medications from other sources or result to suicide to deal with such a barbaric policy.Carol and I thank you for your time,Bronson Rozier

Long Time No Here

Hi There?I really don't come here often enough. Life is pretty crazy (as usual) for me. Things on my plate:1. Currently producing EIMIC's (Everything is Made in China) second LP here in Toronto and remotely in Moscow, where 33.33% of the band are currently positioned. So far we have spent over 20 days in my studio here in Toronto. We have less than 12 days left to finish the record!2. It is NXNE (North by North East) music fest here in Toronto. My "career" band, Tin Star Orphans, is playing 5 showcases! Currently have 2 more to go: one at 1 AM @ the Cadillac Lounge and one at 3 AM @ the Horseshoe Tavern (Basically Queen West).3. EX~PO (my musical project) is finally playing live again here in Toronto. June 24th @ the Boat (Kensington Market) and August 6th @ Holy Joes (Queen West). We don't play live often. In fact, we plan to do these two shows and then disappear into studio-land to write/record our second LP. Meanwhile, check out our first LP, central meaner street ~WEBSITEITUNESITUNES alternative4. While all this is happening, I'm also producing a second record by local Torontonians, The Schomberg Fair (over 4 days!).!It's good to be busy!
